Lula Christian Palmer Toney, 96, of Hopedale, Ohio (Harrison County) died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home.
She was born September 17, 1917 in Stillwater, Ohio a daughter of the late Grant and Maude Christian.
She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church near Hopedale and was a former cook at the former Cadiz Pike Inn Hopedale and worked at Bethel Church.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her first husband, Clifford Palmer; her second husband, John Toney; a son, Cledith L. Palmer, 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Merle Christian and 2 sisters: Martha Carter and Irma Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Lavinia (Benjamin) Rice of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; adopted son, Willy Noble of Georgia; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Byers of Smithfield, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Bowers officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Rhoda E. Strother Christian, 78, of Cadiz, Ohio, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home.
She was born May 28, 1936 in Cadiz, Ohio (Harrison County) a daughter of the late Frank Edgar and Rosetta Hython Strother.
Rhoda was a member of the Cadiz Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Christian in 2010; her daughter, Connie Wheeler in June of this year; and two brothers, Harry Thomas Strother and John Edgar Strother.
Surviving are a son, Mark (Roberta) Christian of Gainesville, FL; two granddaughters, Bianka (Terrance) Frey of Duquesne, PA and Lourdes Christian of Gainesville, FL; grandson, Brandon Crawford of Steubenville; a great grandson, Terrance J. Frey; four brothers, Wilford Sidney Strother of Kileen, TX, William F. "Bill" (Elvia) Strother of Panama, and Richard A. "Buck" Strother of Georgia; six sisters, Bessie Mae Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Norma Jean (Fred) Garner of Cleveland, OH, Anna L. (Dave) Reed of Cadiz, OH, Beverly "Bea" Mason of Cadiz, Leota Kay (George) Christian of Cadiz, and Sara Jo Banks of Steubenville, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cadiz.
Private interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens.
