I have tried to figure how John Washington b. 1806 SC ties into my family, since passed down story was our Washington's were supposed to be the first Washington's to settle in the Pontotoc/Chickasaw/Calhoun Cos. of Mississippi. But this John Washington was found in the Christian household 10 years before my family were listed in the area, as the Halford Washington and McEwen families all traveled to this area from Wetumpka, Coosa, Alabama after 1850. This same area of MS that is referred to as the Washington community of south Pontotoc county MS,, at the Chickasaw county line area. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Just a little up date. I have been off this site for a while. I have been concentrating on the distant cousin matches with the BETA DNA test. Because this test incompases so many markers and both male and female lines it is very time consuming researching the matches. To date with what matches I have been able to check this is what I have discovered.
Allen 5 matches
Anderson 10 matches
Bishop 5 matches
Blankenship 2 matches
Christian 10 matches
Ford 3 matches
Jones 9 matches
Lewis 6 matches
Loveland 1 match
McComas 3 matches
Mullins 3 matches
Simpson 5 matches
Stewart 5 matches
Unknown 32 matches
Unknown matches are those matches that had a great deal of promise but I have just not been able to make the connection or I have not yet recieved responses from messages I have sent. Some of the names for the unknown matches are:
Hatfield
McCoy
Justice
Webb
Henson
Hardin
Short
Lester
West
Young
Moore
Hanson
Bit problem is that most of the unknown have private trees and I am waiting on contact being made.
I still have hundreds of unchecked matches including many 4th cousins.
At least 95% of all matches come back to being from the female line.
I have been really surprised at just how once I get into the research the BETA DNA matches appear to make sense and seem very relevant. So far almost every single match that I have been able to research does come back to known family lines.
Do not base any family ties from this test on Ethnicity reasons. I am 50% Scandinavian yet I am finding vry few matches with more than 20 or 30 percent Scandinavian. I have NO central European ethnicity in my blood line yet cleary half or more of my matches do show central European ties. I have no African DNA yet I have many matches that have a percentage of African ties. The reason for this I believe is that with the Y-DNA and the Mitochondrial DNA test you are looking at a select group of individuals. With the BETA test you are looking at a picture of everyone remotely related to you on both sides, male and female.
I will keep everyone informed on my progress.

Been trying to find you for some time. I was married to your cousin Brian. He was Grover's son. I was always told Martha Wilson Christian was orphaned but information I have found recently looks like her family was in Law. Co., Ohio. It also appears that her mother was born in Indiana, not Martha. Didn't t get to know your dad Curt very well, just remember he was big in to the Redmen. Anyway would love to pick your brain and find out if you would have any photos of the family you would care to share. Been divorced many years from Brian and do not have access to any photos. Trying to put together family history for my 3 sons. Thanks.

While this BETA DNA match is not directly related to Thomas Bailey Christian, it is one that I found to be most interesting and I think other readers may also find interesting.
It all begins with the marriage of James Skaggs and Rachel Moredock, in 1755, VA. James and Rachel have a number of children, one is a daughter Lydia Skaggs and another is a son John Skaggs.
Lydia Skaggs marries Mathias Harman Sr. They have a daughter Luisa Harman. Louisa Harman marries Thomas Bailey Christian, Luisa and Thomas Bailey Christian has Mastin Harman Christian, Mastin Harman Christian has Addison "Attie" Bailey Christian. Addison Christian is believed to be my great grandfather.
John Skaggs marries Ruth Elkins they have Rachel Rebecca Skaggs Bishop, but I find no explanation as to why she carries the Bishop name. Rachel marries William Calvin Lester, they have a daughter named Hanna Lester. Hanna Lester marries into the Staten family.
My BETA shows that I am related to the Skags family through the female line while the Staten genealogy begins with the Skaggs male line.
An interesting fact is that Ruth Elkins, the wife of John Skaggs is reported to be a descendent of Pocahontas. If this is true then a very small percentage of NA blood DNA could be passed down from Ruth Elkins to her descendents. I would not show that DNA in my blood line because Ruth Elkins is not directly related to me by blood, but descendents of Rachel R. Skaggs Bishop and William C. Another very interesting fact about this match is that it is the second or third match that carries so many of my family names. In the family tree there are Bishops, my grandmother was a Bishop. There is Mullins, my great, grandfather married Jane Mullins, my great, aunt married Solomon Mullins etc.

I have discovered another Christian connection through BETA DNA testing. According to the BETA test I am connected to the Davidson Family, Tazewell, Virginia and McDowell County West Virginia.
Moses Christian, married Mary Polly Beavers. They had a daughter named Shone Christian. Shone Christian married Elijah Barnett. They had a daughter Mary Jane Barnett. Mary married Alexander Beavers, They had a daughter Martha Beavers. Martha married Charles Davidson.
Shone Christian was born in Tazewell, Virginia, lived in Big Crfeek, Mcdowell, West Virginia. shone was born the same year as my great, aunt Elizabeth Simpson, also born in Tazewell. Shone moved to McDowell WV., sometime between 1850 & 1860. It is most probable that Elizabeth would have known Shone Christian.
another intersting fact about this family and the BETA connection is that there are 9 family surnames that also share my family tree. All of the connections with the Davidson famly are through the maternal or female lines. The name Simposn will not show up on any family tree connecting me with the Christian family since Simpson was my g,g,grandmother's maiden name.
