Does anyone know how the Moffetts are related to the Israel and Gilbert
Christian family? Several years ago when I was looking for Kennedy family
members I happened to run across the Christians but they were not related to
the Kennedys I was looking for.
Michael, Asa, and another given name were possibly from this family, and
the surname, Dunham, entered into some of my research. I had put aside all
of what I had found and it is probably lost forever - it seemed that nobody
was looking for this bunch.
Thanks for any info,
Virge

Archives.com is a site kind of like ancestory.com, but it allows you to find more records. I have been able to find out alot of information on my relatives from Wva. I am still looking for information from Kentucky. I want to get this tree done for my mother and her sibblings, but mostly for my children and grandchildren so that they don't have to search like I am having to do. Are you related to Dan Christian, Jack Christian and Robert Christian? These three were brothers. Dan Christian is the step father of my grandpa James Christian. Archives.com is a sight that you have to pay for but it's worth it for the information.
Patty

Hi Hal,
I just checked, and you can actually click right on my name above and then go to my profile. You're then looking for the list of my trees on my profile page. Select the most recent, Shelly's family. You can then search for any Christians I have listed. I found out about the Hebron Presbyterian church when I read all I could find on Ancestry. com and via Googling the Tinkling Springs church. Turns out my great great grandfather or ggg grandfather left the Tinkling Springs Presbyterian church when his brother hounded him about his church tithe/tax. He apparently left along with some others and founded the Hebron Presbyterian church. I've been back through Staunton looking for the cemeteries once I found out my great grandmother and most of her ancestors were buried there. There are pictures of the church and cemetery with my trees.

I'm related to these Christians, too, and have some pictures of the Tinkling Springs and Hebron Presbyterian Church cemeteries attached to my tree. The tree is public.

I am looking for information on my grandpa James Christians parents. He was born and raised in Mcdowell CO Wva. His mother was nine months pregnant with my grandpa when she married either Jack Christian or Daniel Christian. His mother's name was Agens but I don't know her maiden name. She died when my grandpa was six or seven years old. My great grandfather remarried after she died. He and his new wife had three sons and one daughter. Their names were Sam, Robert, Howard, and the daughters name was Elizabeth. As far as I know, they all lived and died in Wva. My grandpa married Dolly Mae Click. If anyone out there can give me any information on this family I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you and God Bless
Patty Hardy

Hello Leisa.
I've appreciated being able to look at the Clarke family tree on Ancestry.
I'm a descendant of Dick Christian. He's my gggg grandfather. My paternal grandmother was Ethel Bessie Christian (born 1901, Folkestone, Kent), her father was Harry James Christian (born 1871, Pitsford, Northants), his father was Henry (born 1840, Melton Mowbray, Leics), and his father was James (born 1801, Edith Weston, Rutland).
I know a little about Dick and have written a short (few-hundred-word) biography of him which I would be happy to send to you if only I could work out how to do it! Would very much like to compare notes.
While I have quite a bit of information on Dick, I don't have much at all on his son James (1801), and James's son Henry (1840). Would dearly love to see photos or drawings. Have wondered if James is depicted in any of John Ferneley's paintings, some of which were of horses with groom.
Have you read 'In Search of Dick Christian' on the Cottesmore Hunt website? And have you found material at Melton Mowbray museum? I have a hunch they might have some interesting stuff at the latter, but I haven't been able to go into it yet.
Best regards.
Ruth

I occasionally look up Chester Christian's name to see if I may find some information about him, and saw this link from 2003. Chester was my uncle, the brother of my mother. One of the sisters of Chester and my mother went on a trip to Tennessee tracking down Christian relatives and I think I remember hearing about a place in the northwest corner of Tennessee called Christian Corners, but I have never been able to find it. My aunt had photos of men with white hair and long beards as I recall. Let me know if you know anything else. I had always heard from my mother that the Christians came originally from Denmark. My email is gregyluz(a)hotmail.com if you want to contact me. Thanks. Greg
