I only saw this post, I don't have proof, but I will say I have seen documents from family of Mathias Christian that moved to West Virginia where they submitted documents claiming Indian heritage. If I remember correcty I found it on footnote.com and I typed in a search of Dawes to bring up Indian Rolls then typed in Christian. There was information on this family. Though not all that is contained in this write up.

I know there is no proof but word of mouth handed down and I could not find
anything in my research to prove that Cornstank is my nineth grandfather but
it is the only link to say my parents were not lying. Yes everything has to
be proved but for some things there just isn't any. I never found where my
grandfather died or was buried or where my Aunt was bound out because some
things were done with a handshake. Annie

I have to jump in.... Not trying to stir the pot, but I can find no real evidence that Thomas B Christian was a full or even part-blooded Indian. I first saw this claim on another board, but I've never seen any evidence other than people taking it at face value. I can tell you that I've seen NO genetic evidence that anyone in my family has native American features. And being that Thomas didn't live that many generations ago, some in our family should show a resemblance. Everyone I've seen had light skin and most were blond/red head, with blue or green eyes. You said you're new at this so I just wanted to say you've got to double check EVERYTHING. Don't just take things at face value because someone puts them in their tree. I've discovered, for instance, that there were 2 William Davis' in the same area about the same age. And both had a dad named Samuel Davis and a mother listed as either Elizabeth or Betty. Even the SIBLINGS were similar and had the same name and close in age. They were almost clone families! LOL!
The only thing is one Samuel was born in 1790s and the other in 1820. The elder one had a son named Robert who died in the civil war. I've seen several trees that had these families mixed together and having Samuel born in 1820 having fathering Robert when he was NINE! It took me a while to get it sorted out regarding who belonged to who and figure out there were (at least) two families. But I finally found our William Davis had an accident and left his young wife a widow with 2 small children, one which went on to be my grandmother. The other, William W Davis, outlived his first wife and remarried.
It was sad to think of my great-grandmother left to raise two children so young (she later remarried and had other children.) But it was satisfying to be able to confidently point at a name and say, THAT was my great-grandfather. So you really want to question everything and pin it down as best you can. JMHO.
