Does anyone know of Sherman Christian and family who started out in Morgan County, MO and later travelled through New Mexico, Oregon and Texas? He was born Aug 1895 in Morgan County to parents Edgar and Laura M. In 1919, he married Minnie Michaels of Stover, MO, daughter of Robert E Michaels and Dora Anduss, born 1901. In 1920 US Federal Census, he was in Army base in Luna County, NM and she was living at nearby Douglas. In 1930, they lived in The Dalles, Wasco County, OR, with 9-yr-old daughter, Geraldine. Her aunt, Mary E Anduss, ran a restaurant with her husband Charles W MacMahon in the same county. Minnie Christian later died in 1989, Grayson County, TX.

My tree begins with Nap Christian (found that out from a distant cousin Kathleen Christian from San Antonio)...My Great Great Grandfather was Sam Christian who married Hattie Mansfield 1891. I would like to find out more information on the Texas branch...seems that Sam died early (1911)and is buried in Missouri...probably St. Louis.
My great grandmother was Mary Christian...who married Clarence Butler of St. Louis.
Any and all information appreciated.

James Luther Christian (or variation) had a daughter in 1913 by Georgianna Beck. (Not sure if they married.) Daughter born in Ensley, Alabama. He was said to have worked in a coal mine near Bessemer. Later, by another wife, he had more children. He may also have had a brother named Madison. Any help in identifying his family would be appreciated!

My great-grandfather was Charles Edward Christian, b. 18 Apr 1872 in Texas. His two older brothers were also born in Texas. Their mother, Sarah Senova Sisson, was born in 1847 in Alabama and moved to Texas with her family.
As far as I've been able to determine, the Christian brothers' father was named Jim, but various documents have him born in Alabama, Tennessee or Texas. I never find him in the census with this children and wife. In the 1880 census, Sara was married to Herman Eldred and the three boys were listed as his step-children.
Anyone have any idea who Jim Christian was?

I don't know who mothered Mathias, but the 1850 Tazewell Co VA census
shows him in the household. All the members listed are:
Thos Christian Sen - age 80 - Male - VA
Mary - age 40 - Female
Mathias - 16 - Male
George - 14 - Male
Susana - 13 - Female
Sally - 10 - Female
Letty(? or Lilly) - 8 - Female
That is from the handwritten. I have an image on my website under files
: http://groups.google.com/group/tennvaheritage . The site I got the
images from (Ancestry) had transcribed Mathias as "Mathws" so I had a
time searching for it. It has him at 16 in 1850 - so 1834 was his birth
year. I haven't seen a handwritten marriage document (but I'd love to
see one) for Thomas and Mary, but I've seen the date cited as 1829, and
it does come up in a search of Virginia marriage records on Ancestry: 18
Jun 1829 Tazewell Co, VA. The 1900 census shows Mathias birthdate as
April 1834, although it wrongly gives his age as 36 (should be 66). This
is when he was remarried to Hettie. It's also on my site. There are two
Mathias' on the page... mine is second family from the bottom.
I'm hoping there might be a death certificate for Mathias out there that
might list his parents names. I have one for my great-grandfather George
Riley Christian, as well as three of his sisters (Lillie Beavers, Mary
Baldwin and Allie Dunford) that I got from the West Virginia Archives
site and they all have Mathias' name on them as father. Lillie's gives
Matthias' middle initial as B.

Message Board Post:
Mathias Christian (son of Thomas Christian and Mary Altizer and born Apr 1834) and his wife Elenor/Ellen Beavers were my great-great-grandparents. They had nine children that I am aware of: Nancy Christian(m.Grogan?), Mary Lee Christian (m. Baldwin), Martha C. Christian (m. Clyburn/Clybern), Levica Christian (m. Barrett?), George Riley Christian (m. Corinthia Davis), Lillie Belle (m. Beavers), Alifair "Allie" (m. Sam Dunford, Susan (m. James Dunford), and Wm T or Thomas W. (m. Rachel ?). George Riley Christian, through his daughter Carrie B. Christian (Leedy), was my great-grandfather.
Anyone connected with this line who has any record of when Mathias died? I found him in a 1900 Tazewell census married to a woman named Hattie, and his son named Wm T. In the 1910 census, I found a woman named Mary Christian, living with her daughter Virgie Huff (who I believe later married an Altizer), and Mary's stepson, Thomas W. Christian. That census also stated that Mary and Virgie were both widows and were both from Ohio.. So I would assume that Virgie's last name Huff was her married name. Yet I found on a website that there exists a record that Mathias Christian married a Mary Huff in Madison, Ohio in Sep 1904. Mathias would have been 70 at the time, and in 1910, Mary was 50. If this is true that she was married to him, and by appearance in the 1910 census it may be, then Mathias must have died between 1904 and 1910. Does anyone have any record of this?
As well, I am trying to find a record of death for George Riley Christian's wife Corinthia (Corintha) Davis, as well as a daughter, Mattie, who seems to have married Paris Lester. Mattie, according to the 1900 McDowell Co census, was born in Feb 1886 and was 14 at the time. It also says George and Corintha had been married for 10 years. So she may have been the daughter of only one of them. I have not seen a marriage record for Mattie and Paris Lester, but supposedly they were married in 1903 according to info I got from another site. That site also put Mattie's dob at 1891 which would have had her being married at like 12 years old. The date in the census makes more sense.
Anyways, before I write a book I'll stop. Anyone out there have any information on these people?

Floy,
I noticed that the first child was born in Kentucky. There is a listing of
marriage between Thomas Christian and Polly Buchannon on Feb. 21, 1822 in
Wayne Co. Kentucky. I hope this is yours.
By the way in my family files I have a Christian that married a Walden.
