Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Re: discussion about census records on Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest. A
disadvantage of Heritage Quest is that it requires the exact spelling in
searching the census records. Ancestry.Com will search for soundex - ex.
Hollifield vs. Holyfield. Ancestry.Com and Ancestry.Plus home versions have
much improved scanning and you can now easily print out the image of the
entire census page. A first-name search in a state and county may locate
what a last-name search misses, and vice-versa. You can also do a wildcard
search in Ancestry by entering the first three letters of the name followed
by and asterisk. Only the heads of households are indexed in the 1910
census but all members of that household show up on the image. Good
hunting.

For those of you who are not aware of it the FHC (family history
centers) at the LDS Church's have FULL subscriptions to Ancestry.com.
With a new census browser they have started using you can easily go
through the records, and I think they have all the census indexed
although it seems some are only indexed by the Head of Household (in
other words I did not find people when searching but later found them
when searching their parents).
You can find the closest center to you by going to
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp
and putting in your information.

Hi Larry,
Do you have a webpage?
Is there a CHRISTIAN family website on MyFamily.com?
That's a great way to have access to pictures, files, etc.
If not, maybe we should set one up!

Hello from central MO! I'm writing a history of my small hometown of Higbee, Randolph Co, MO, and the Tymony family originally of the Arrow Rock, Saline Co, MO vicinity, and before that in PA, I believe, figure prominently in it. I belive the eldest of the clan that I'm interested in was a Francis Marion Tymony, and at least one had Marmaduke as a middle name. Of course MO had two Governor's of the Marmaduke name who were from that vicinity, so it is possible that this person was merely named for a famous personage. Any info on the Marmaduke/Tymony families that might be helpful will certainly be appreciated.

We're cousins. Christine and I have already been in touch. My g-g-grandmother was Sue Wood Christian, the eldest of Wright Christian Sr.'s children.
