Sorry I could not tell if this one was forwarded to the list (normally they
do not say {not a subscriber} when they do make. Of course most of those are
junk this one is not. Remember if replying to click on the link and post it

Hi Ruth,
I just sent a reply to the email you sent me, before I read this one. The
picture you have of Joe Christian, is that of Minnie's brother, the one
that was murdered? I would love to get copies of the pics you have and I
happen to have some family that you may want to have as well. Please tell
your grandmother Ruth that Johnnie Mae ( Mae and John Heaton's daughter)
wishes her well. LIsa

There are Fitts/Christian connections in the Elbert Co., GA line and my
GUESS is that this family spring from that area.
The parental nativity for James seems to point toward Isaac & Mildred White

Rootsweb.com has a link to locate the county a specific town is located in.
http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi
It sure helped me locate the county in the New England states where I can't
seem to locate the name of a county on the maps due to all the print from
the various towns. So much simpler.

Our connections start in Ireland, come to MN, then TN, MS, MO, then back to MN then to MO, and finally TX. I do not have the males back beyond 1812, my oldest known in Harden S. Christian born 1812, TN. But my wifes father married Jeffie Mae Whetstone in Monroe, LA. Her's is the Christian line.
I became interested in the Chronicles hoping to find her line their but still have not connected. But they were very helpful. You can contract me directly if you wish a copy, I put the 12 Vols on CDROM by permission of the author.

Hi Nan,
Thanks for your reply! I am not related either, so my interest in William Christian lies only during his time in the Civil War as colonel of the 26th NYSV. Unpublished letters, diaries, etc., OR even comments/writings that he may have made after the war regarding that period. I know he gave an address to the Oneida County Hist. Society on the early days of the war, however I've been told that no copy of that address could be located in the files of the Society. -- I visited the Society last fall and did not realize they had a special file on Christian! Anything in there relative to his time of service would be appreciated. -- With regards to his time in Mexico, the only info I have was taken from his obituary in the Oneida Daily Herald, which I'd be pleased to share with you. Also, are you aware of the article about Christian which appeared in the March 1988 issue of "Civil War" magazine?

I am currently researching Col. W. H. Christian for an article and have access to the Oneida County Historical Society's records on Col. Christian. He was a founding member of the Historical Society and lived just down the road from it's current facility. I would love to share "findings" on him and could look to see what they have on his descendants. Would you happen to have any information on his service during the Mexican War, 1846 to 1848, with Stevenson's Regt (Co. K), in California? My husband is not a descendant, but is possibly related (still haven't made the connection). Nan
