Looking for info on Sidney Christian m. Mary Bell Chestnut 1898 Tuscaloosa children Manila 1901, Hawthorne 1903, Alvin 1905, Mattie Bell Griffie 1909. Manila married Clarence Davenport and is my Grandmother. Any info you can add appreciated.
For Cary and Liesa-My Christians were in Hanover Co, Prince Edward Co,Amelia
Co, and Goochland Co, Virginia. A number of them in the late 1700s and very
early 1800s then moved to Fayette County Kentucky and a number of them remained
there. My Elizabeth Christian then moved to Fayette County, Indiana with her
husband, Peter Frazier, and then moved to Vermilion County, Illinois where
Elizabeth died around 1840. I know Elizabeth had 11 siblings but I do not know any
of their names. As for Matilda, yes I have seen that name, but not in direct
relation to my Elizabeth. Thanks for your responses. Linda
I am always seeking information on my Christian family. This is what I have
and believe it is pretty much correct.
Andrew Christian Senior died about 1795 in Virginia. I have no idea who his
wife was but here is a list of their children:
Frances married Robert Chancellor in 1784 in Goochland, Virginia
Peter died 1812 and married Sara
John born 1752, died 1792 married Judith Pate in 1772 (these events occurred
in VA and KY)
William born 1758 and died 1828
Andrew Jr (my line) born 1761, died 1837 married Polly (Mary) Hatton (all of
these events took place in VA and KY)
Jacob born about 1763 and died about 1813.
Now as for Andrew Junior and his wife Polly or Mary, I know they had 12
children including my Elizabeth who was born in 1795 in VA, lived in Kentucky and
Indiana and then made it to Vermilion Co, Illinois where she died about 1840.
She married Peter Frazier in 1812 in Virginia. Polly made a statement telling
people she had 12 children, all of whom were living more or less in Midwestern
states including Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and possibly one or 2
other states. This is the family that I would love to know so much more about.
Actually, I will take any info anyone has to give me. I know some of Andrew
Junior's descendants ended up in Texas. Is there anyone who can help
me--PLEASE!!!! Linda Fleming

Thomas W. was born in Atchison County, MO about 1853. He was the son of
Preston Riley CHRISTIAN and Abby/Allie Jane STONE ROUNDTREE CHRISTIAN. I have
tracked him to the 1870 Census in Nebraska, Otoe County, in Four Mile Precinct when
Thomas was 16. I know that his father, Preston, was in Texas in the 1880
census, but that was after his mother had died; Preston had remarried and Thomas
W. was not listed as residing with his father's family. Thomas W. was my
g-grandfather. His daughter, my grandmother, was Lulu Grace CHRISTIAN b. 9 Aug 1877
in Brownville, Nemaha County, NE. Lulu's mother was Laura B. KNEFFER, b. Oct
1854 in Ohio. We do not know if Laura and Thomas were married, but Lulu's son,
my uncle, (living POLING) was named as an heir to the estate of Preston Riley
CHRISTIAN and received compensation for land on a deed from 1942. I have
copies of the CHRISTIAN FAMILY CHRONICLES for the descendants of Anthony and Sallie
Ewing CHRISTIAN. There is a reference that Thomas W. was named in Preston's
will, but there was no copy of the will. I would like to correspond with anyone
else that is researching descendants of Preston Riley CHRISTIAN.
