Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to
everything ~~~ It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good,
just and
beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling,
passionate,
and eternal form.
- Plato
And then sometimes it's just plain fun!

ROLL CALL:
My brick wall is finding the parents of my gg-grandfather Nicholas T.
Christian. He was born in Georgia in 1820.
Married Margret Wilson 29 Jan 1856 in Randolph County, GA (This could be
Quitman County, as I understand
if a visting preacher did the ceremony, he took it back to his County to be
recorded). They were definitely in the
Quitman County 1850 census, Nicholas, Margret, and three daughters - Ella,
Anna and Emma. Ella was my
g-grandmother.
Nicholas was shown alone on the 1870 AL census. He died in Sept/Oct 1870 in
Eufalua, AL, (just across the river
from Georgetown, GA) and is supposed to be buried in Georgetown, Quitman
County, GA. This was from
information in the Eufalua newspaper. I have not been able to find his name
on any cemetery lists in Georgetown.
A plaque commemorating the founding of Quitman County is place in front of
the Quitman County Court House.
His name, Nicholas T. Christian, Treasurer, appears on this plaque.
I do not have any further information on who the parents of Margret Wilson
were either.

Hi All,
We have had several new members lately and I wanted to
invite you to do a Roll Call to update/remind all of our
new and old member as to what we are looking for.
PLEASE
Make sure us a good Subject line DO NOT put Roll Call as
the subject. Instead make it as much of the following as
you can: name, approximate dates and location for that
person. With such a common name if you just put Jim
Christian you could a hundred replies for info on Jim and
none of them will relate to your Jim.
Next in the body put as much as you know about the person
you are looking for. We all care that he was your gggg?
Grandfather but it helps us more if you tell us who is
parents, siblings, children, and spouse were. We realize
you won't have it all or you probably would be asking
about someone else but one of these details might be what
helps us make a connection.
If I had all my info I would do better but mine would look
like this:
Matildia Chastain b. 10 JUL 1850 VA, W. VA or IN
d. abt 1910 in Little Wabash, IL
m. William R. Mull abt
William was born 6 MAR 1846 in New Albany, IN
Children of Matilda and William are:
Thomas MULL b: BEF 1879
Mary MULL b: BEF 1880
Louis Mull b. 3 SEP 1880 in Warrick Co, IN
Peal Mull b. abt 1881 in Cape Gerardou, MO
Charles MULL b: AFT 1881 in Cape Gerardou, MO
I have one source that mentions she was born in VA or W.
VA but I also have two birth certificates for a male and
female child that says she was born in IN.
I have heard that she had 4 relatives that were in the
Civil War on the Confederate side and that they were all
killed in battle. I have not been able to find 4 brothers
that were in the army that were killed, but I suspect
after further conversations that it is more likely she had
4 relatives a combination of brothers and cousins and that
some of the were injured and others killed.
I suspect that Matildias parents or maybe a sister, were
living in MO where she had the last couple of children.
William, Thomas and Mary are in the 1880 census but
Matildia is not and neither is my Louis. I cannot find
Matildia in any household in the 1880 census.
This is not even close to complete but it gives you an
idea of what will help us to find your relative. I will
try and clean mine up later and repost it.
Happy Hunting

Unfortunately, I have VERY few details on this man. He enlisted in Company L of the Phillips Georgia Legion's Infantry Battalion in April 1862 (when the company was formed). This company was made up of men from Cobb County, Georgia. His military records end with the simple notation that he was sent to a hospital in November 1862. Then, nothing more.
