The Family Christian Chronicles has a Clair Carlos Christian, born 1887 died 1960, one of the nine children of William Thomas Christian. But has Clair being born in Missouri and appears to have moved to Utah. I saw your query in Mar 2000. Wondering how positive the TN connection is? If this is your Clair, her entire line is documented in the many articles on Anthony and Sally (Ewing) Christian. You can contact me at :

Jeffery, The name does not sound familier to me. But there are alot of Christians in Tn. Have you tried the Christian board at: www.genforum.com or www.google.com there you put in the information like this: McNairy Co., Tn. Records and it will pull up the different records that it ahas for that county. The census is out for 1900, 1910, 1920 & 1930, see if you can find an index for Tn. so you can check them. Don't give up, before you really get started. Someone will have something on him somewhere. If I can help you in anyway, just e-mail me.

Hello Carol:
Sorry, don't believe Harve Christian is part of my line. My Christian family
seems to have left Virginia and finally settled for the most part in Georgia.
Let me know if you think I can help you from there.
Rubye
Hello,
Do you have any of the census records for your family on Harve
Christian? That might help on where to look for him, like where he was born, etc. What
part of Texas was he in and at what time frame. My Christian's where in the
Northeast part of Texas, Titus and Cass Co.

I am looking for information on Dock Christian born about 1845 in Washington Co. GA. to James and Sarah Christian. He moved to Wilkinson Co. and fought in Civil War with the Wilkinson Co. Ramah Guards. In 1870 he was married to Fannie Crumbley and in 1880 census he and Fannie had 6 children. It is believed that he shortly disappeared and "married" Elva Elise Ussery in Laurens Co. and had two children. He disappeared again after 1885 and the story goes that he had another family. Have not been able to find him since that time. In 1880 he was about 31 years old so in 1900 he would have been about 51. Does anyone have any info since about 1885 about his whereabouts or his death and burial site? Thanks for the help.

CHRISTIAN, HERBERT F.
Rank and organization: Private, U.S. Army, 15th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division.
Place and date: Near Valmontone, Italy, 2-3 June 1944.
Entered service at: Steubenville, Ohio.
Birth: Byersville, Ohio.
G.O. No.: 43, 30 May 1945.
Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life above and beyond the call of duty. On 2-3 June 1944, at 1 a.m., Pvt. Christian elected to sacrifice his life in order that his comrades might extricate themselves from an ambush. Braving massed fire of about 60 riflemen, 3 machineguns, and 3 tanks from positions only 30 yards distant, he stood erect and signaled to the patrol to withdraw. The whole area was brightly illuminated by enemy flares. Although his right leg was severed above the knee by cannon fire, Pvt. Christian advanced on his left knee and the bloody stump of his right thigh, firing his submachinegun. Despite excruciating pain, Pvt. Christian continued on his self-assigned mission. He succeeded in distracting the enemy and enabled his 12 comrades to escape. He killed 3 enemy soldiers almost at once. Leaving a trail of blood behind him, he made his way forward 20 yards, halted at a point within 10 yards of the enemy, and despite intense fire k!
illed a machine-pistol man. Reloading his weapon, he fired directly into the enemy position. The enemy appeared enraged at the success of his ruse, concentrated 20-mm. machinegun, machine-pistol and rifle fire on him, yet he refused to seek cover. Maintaining his erect position, Pvt. Christian fired his weapon to the very last. Just as he emptied his submachinegun, the enemy bullets found their mark and Pvt. Christian slumped forward dead. The courage and spirit of self-sacrifice displayed by this soldier were an inspiration to his comrades and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the armed forces.
If the 1920 Census has picked up Herbert, then the following information may be known of him:
Herbert F. Christian, born about 1912 in Byesville, Guernsey County, Ohio, is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Guernsey County, Byesville, Ohio. Herbert was seven years old when the 1920 Census was taken, and was living with his brother James G. Christian at their Uncle’s home in Jackson Township, Byesville.
I wonder if these descendants are related to Preston Riley Christian. He was
my 2nd Great-Grandfather and married 3 times. He relocated his third family to
Mart, McLennon County, Texas between 1870 and 1876 and he and (third wife)
Margaret Jane SHRUM had 7 children all born in Texas. The first son born in
Texas was Joseph Preston CHRISTIAN born 16 Oct 1876. I beleive I found this
information in the Christian Family Chronicles. I am descended from Thomas W.
CHRISTIAN who was Preston Riley's first son with his second wife. Please let me know
if you find anything on this as we may end up searching one of the same lines!

Hello, Elaine. Glad to hear from you. Your names do not sound familier to me, but that does not mean anything. You are related in someway or another. Can you give me dates, places etc. Also a rough outline of your line. I have a "distant cousin" that came to Tx. before 1860 and settled in Hunt Co., his name was James M. Christian. He came from Ark. The one big problem with the Christian Family is that they used for the most part, the same first names. I have mine back to Va. by the way of Tx., Ala., Ga.. And I am still trying to seperate the different lines. At least when you started, you had names, my father did not know his grandfathers name. Been looking ever since.
Are you from Texas or where, that is if you don't mind my asking? The one good thing that has come out of my searching is that I have met some very nice cousins.
Let me hear from you. If you want to use my e-mail address.
Chris

I am researching my husband's Christian line, and was interested to see your line migrated to Texas at some point. I am searching for info on Harvey 'Harve' Christian who married Cleo Robison and had, son Harvey Preston Christian, Chester, and Charlie for sure. These are not all the children, but I'm not sure of all the names. I can't seem to link him to anyone. I have no idea how and when they came to Texas, so am looking for any help.
Thanks

I am trying to reach a Gladys Owens, as we had been corresponding in June on the Joseph Christian/Sally Christian line in Tennessee.
But my last e-mail to her was "undeliverable". Does anyone have a current e-mail address for her? Or would you forward this e-mail indicating I am trying to reach her?
Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
