Two of his children he named Moses and Lavisa. He also had a son named
Harm(which I thought may tie in to the Harmon I assumed that Harm was short
for another name). My Nathaniel was from Tazewell per his marriage cert. He
married Comfort Daniels(Mounts) in Pike Co KY. Have you come across his name
anywhere? He went by the name Robert in later life. Thanks

Do you have dates and spouse for Lavisa Christian, d/o Nathaniel Robert
Christian. My GGrandmother was Lovisa/Lavisa Christian that was probably
born abt 1840-47 and married Frederick J Combs in Sullivan Co TN in 1865. I
have not been able to find her parents.

#7091: History of Bourbon, Scott, Harrison and Nicholas Counties, Kentucky,
ed. by William Henry Perrin, O. L. Baskin & Co., Chicago, 1882. p. 564.
[Bourbon County] [Hutchinson Precinct] THOS. J. NICHOLS, farmer; P. O.
Paris; was born Dec. 25, 1837, in Fayette County, Ky., and is the son of
Abram and Mary (Christian) Nichols, the fromer a native of Fayette County,
and by trade a blacksmith, resided in that county till [sic] his death. The
latter was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, and died in Dec. 1880.
T. J. was educated in Fayette County and embarked in business for himself
as a farmer. He was Deputy Sheriff under C. C. Bodley, and appointed to
fill the vacancy upon the resignation of that gentleman. In 1864, he was a
candidate for the office of Sheriff of Fayette County, and was defeated by
but twenty-two votes, by W. W. Dowden. He removed from Fayette to Jessamine
County, Ky., where he was subsequently married to Miss Juliette, daughter
of John Hughes, of that county. They are the parents of five children, viz:
Thomas B., John H., Kenney, Susie and William. In 1871, Mr. Nichols removed
to Bourbon County, where he owns a fine farm of 300 years of blue grass
land. He is known throughout Bourbon County as a breeder of fine short horn
cattle and thoroughbred horses. He is a friend to educational and religious
interest, and is at present Trustee of the school of his district. Mrs.
Nichols is a consistent member of the Christian church. He is a Democrat
and was with Gen. W. R. Terrell when he was killed at Perryville. He began
life a poor boy, dependent upon his own resources. By industry and good
financiering he has acquired an honorable position among the leading
citizen of Bourbon County.

Does anyone out there have any information on Margery Christian?
She was born around 1624 in Wethersfield, Connecticut, and was married in
1642 in New London, Conn. to George Chappell. She may have died in 1709 in
Hartford, Conn.
Any information would be appreciated.

I have Thomas Christian married to Louisa Harman.
Louisa Harman was the daughter of Mathias Harman Sr and Lydia Skaggs.
Lydia Skaggs was the daughter of James and Rachel Skaggs. It is said that they founded Baptist Valley in Tazewell County. They were from Kentucky prior to moving to Tazewell County.
I do not know if they were born in Kentucky or not. They may have been from another part of Virginia and travelled to Kentucky.
I don't have proof, but suspect that Thomas Christian is the son of Nathaniel Christian.
Tazewell county book sites a court case from an uncle in Kentucky that list nieces and nephews as heirs, since he didn't have any children of his own.
Part of a court case indicates that Thomas Christian was orphaned at a young age and he was raised by Thomas Mastin. At one point they Thomas was in the state of Tennessee with Thomas Mastin and Thomas also had a sister who married in Tennessee
Thomas Christian and Louisa Harman had a son Moses Christian. Moses married Polly Beavers.
There daughter Lavisa Christian married Luther Low - May 6, 1840. This is about where you date starts.
Hope this helps

do you have any further info on your line? I am descended from Nathaniel Robert Christian from Tazewell VA born in about 1840. One of his kids he named Harm which I thought was odd. I saw the name Harmon in your family and thought that he may have been named for an ancestor. You can reach me directly at dpilcher(a)bellsouth.net
Jim,
There is a set of books out that list of all the soldiers of the South.
Do you have access to a genealogy library? If not, let me know and I will
see what I can find at ours.

Jim, thanks for your reply. Like you, I have come up empty on Addison's Civil War service. I will keep wearing this computer out though. Are you a descendent of Addison and Rebecca ? My Grandmother was Florence(Flossie) Beavers Evans Brooks. Her Father was Wade Beavers and another Rebecca Christian of Tazewell Va. and later War, Wva. Addison and Rebecca were her Great Grandparents. My Grandma Flossie just died Wednesday at the age of 94. We may be related some where down the line. If you find anything new, give me a shout, and I'll do the same. Randy Evans
