There is in the LDS records a Burrel CHRISTIAN as the son of Drury & Sarah
Peyton CHRISTIAN. He is listed as being born in 1815. In the Warren Co.,
TN 1820 census is listed Drury's family as well as that of a Burrel and a
John.
Either the DOB of 1815 is incorrect or we have another Burrel CHRISTIAN.
On the census, John & Burrel are living close to each other and not close to
Drury.
Does anyone have information on this -[or these]- Burrel CHRISTIAN and who
is the listed John CHRISTIAN?

"The Republic Claims series of Comptroller's records includes claims for
payment, reimbursement, or restitution submitted by citizens to the Republic
of Texas government from 1835 through 1846. It also includes records
relating to Republic pensions and claims against the Republic submitted as
public debt claims after 1846. The files include supporting documents such
as vouchers, financial accounts, military records, receipts, notes, or
letters.
"These historic records from the Republic era have been microfilmed to
preserve the highest image quality, and the entire series has been
meticulously indexed by staff in the Archives and Information Services

"The records comprise four groups of payments made for services rendered
during the period 1835-1846: Audited Claims, Republic Pensions, Public Debt
Claims, and Unpaid Claims.
"Because the actual Republic Claims are extremely fragile, access to the

Of the listed, I believe I have placed John B., Charles [Mask], Elijah,
George, Henry. The only Drury that I have that died near that time is s/o
Robert & Lucy Bradley Christian, but the LDS have his place of death as NC
in 1780. The LDS could be right, but I do not believe that is the case.n
Does anyone have another Drury who would fit? Also - to which family group

Looking for more info on Thomas POSEY, who supposedly
married Mary HODGKIN. I have been told that my ancestor,
William B. CHRISTIAN b. ca 1780-1784, married Sarah H.
POSEY, daughter of Thomas and Mary (HODGKIN) POSEY,
and lived in Elbert Co. GA. Evidence points to this being true,
since a Thomas POSEY deeded land to William "for love
and consideration" (this was a common phrase when giving land to
a relative) and two of William and Sarah's kids had POSEY in
their names: Elizabeth Posey CHRISTIAN and James Thomas Posey
CHRISTIAN. James T. P. CHRISTIAN gave the name Hezekiah to one
of his sons, too. Does anyone know when and where William
and Sarah married? Was Sarah a daughter of Thomas POSEY and
Mary HODGKIN? If so, I'd love to know how that can be proven.
Anyone on the list descend from these lines?

This is one big happy family of Christians living in Amherst Co., VA in 1850
[see below.]
Judith Woodson is listed as the head of household and is Judith Ford
Christian Woodson w/o Charles Woodson and sister to the listed Peter F.
[Ford], Drury [Ford], and Walter L. [Leake]. Drury Ford Christian's wife is
not listed, but he married Jane Feagans in 1826. I believe that the listed
John S. is his son. Judith A., Lucy J., and Charles A. - MAY also be his
issue. The placement of Walter L. above the next batch of youths MAY
indicate that they are his children. Does onyone know the various
associations of those listed.

Fellow Christian researchers, is anyone working on this family unit? Any

James Christian
James Christian was born in Amherst County in 1776 and died in July 1854 in
Appomattox County. His father, George Christian, died when he was only eight
years old. Reuben Norvell served as James’ guardian. James married Cordelia
Watts, daughter of Capt. Stephen and Elizabeth (Farrar) Watts, Feb. 28,
1795, in Amherst County. Cordelia was born about 1775 and died on Jan. 29,
1848. James and Cordelia were stepsiblings, because his mother married
Cordelia's father. They lived in a part of Amherst County that later became
Nelson County. James also owned properties in Appomattox County. He
inherited extensive acres that were tied up for decades in court cases.
Children of James and Cordelia (Watts) Christian were:
1. George H. Christian was born circa 1796 and died about 1844. He married
Elvira Mildred Layne, daughter of George W. and Sallie F. (Gilliam) Layne,
on Oct. 30, 1830 in Nelson County. She was born circa 1806 in Fluvanna
County, and alive in 1850 when the U. S. Census was taken for Nelson County.
2. Stephen Watts Christian, was born circa 1798 and died Jan. 15, 1879 in
Amherst County. He married Lucy Jane Christian, daughter of Drury and
Mourning Christian, on Aug. 6, 1828, in Amherst County.
3. Elizabeth Farrar Christian was born in 1799 and died May 26, 1859, in
Appomattox County. She married Silas P. Vawter (1797-1866), on Jan. 19,
1824, in Nelson County, Va. Silas was born in Lynchburg in 1797 and died on
March 21, 1865 at Bent Creek, Appomattox County. Their three children were:
Mary Jane Vawter (1827?1888) married John W. Walton, and Dr. Benjamin Vawter
(1832-1908).
4. James B. Christian was born about 1803. He married Lucy Jane Kyle,
daughter of Rowland and Sophia (Christian) Kyle, on June 1, 1837, in Nelson
County. He was alive when the U. S. Census for 1850 was taken in Nelson
County.
5. William Robert Christian was born about 1804 and died in April 1864 in
Amherst County. He married Sarah S. Phillips, daughter of William and Mary
Phillips.
6. Martha Ann Christian was born in 1805 and died in 1895. She married
Robert Beasley, March 25, 1833. Robert moved his family to Bent Creek,
Appomattox County where he ran a merchantile store and an inn. The 1850
census for Appomattox County five children: (a) Charles H. Beasley, age 15
years, (b) Sarah Beasley, age 13 years, (c) John J. Beasley, age 9 years,
(d) Stephen H. Beasley, age 6 years, and (e) Bettie Beasley, age 4 years.
The Aug. 30, 1850 issue of the Richmond Whig reported that Lucy Ann Beasley
died on Aug. 15, 1850 at the home of her Uncle Silas P. Vawter. The 1850
census for Appomattox County stated that she was 24 years old, or a
birthyear of circa 1826. An old unidentified letter reported that several
members of the Beasley family migrated to Montgomery, Alabama.
7. Sarah Jordon Christian was born about 1807 in Amherst County. She married
Herrod Brumskill Scott on Feb. 15, 1823. He was born in 1800 in Caroline
County, Virginia and died in 1848 in Potosi, Missouri.
8. Samuel Hairston Christian of whom nothing further is known.
9. Charles W. Christian married Elvira Ann Wills, Oct. 28, 1833. He was
deceased by 1866.
10. Rufus C. Christian was born circa 1814. He was listed on the 1850 U.S.
census for Nelson County, and was enumerated on the 1870 U.S. census for
1870 in Appomattox County.
11. Amanda D. Christian was born about 1816 and died sometime during the
1860s. She married John A. Scruggs, March 9, 1836 in Nelson County, Va. John
reported to the courthouse the death of his mother-in-law, Cordelia (Watts)
Christian.

If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back, it was and always will be yours.
If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with.
If it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food,
uses your telephone, takes your money, and never behaves as if you actually
set it free in the first place.................... you either married it or
gave birth to it.
