Have you tried looking in Hawkins County records, e.g, marriages, deeds and
wills?

Hi, all....
I am new to the genealogy game and to the Christian list, but I am
extremely interested in researching my family tree. I am just getting
started, and have little information, but I was hoping I might make a
connection with someone else's information. Any advice or other help
would be greatly appreciated. I would love to find out more about my
predecessors!!
Cora Lee Christian was born in Church Hill, Hawkins County, Tennessee on
June 10, 1924, and died in Kingsport, Tennessee on Nov 13, 1978. She
married Robert Lee Taylor in Tennessee (location unknown) on April 23,
1945. They had 3 children, one of whom was my mother.
Cora Lee Christian had 4 sisters: Helen Janet Christian (Mitchell
Morehead) (b. Aug 4, 1928), Ora Louise Christian (Everett Graythen) (b.
Mar 1, 1926 and d. 1995), Annabelle Christian (Hall) (b. Sep 14, 1933),
and Jessie Lee Christian (b. Jan 17, 1938 and d. June or July 1938).
Cora also had one brother, Edward Carson Ray Christian (b. Aug 3,
1931). Although she was the oldest sibling during her childhood, her
birth certificate states "Number of children born to this mother
including present birth.....3" and "Number of children of this mother
now living...1", so she apparently had two older siblings that died at
an early age.
Cora's (& siblings) father was James Errick Christian, b. Oct 12, 1885
in Hawkins County, Tennessee and d. Jan 17, 1944 in Bull's Gap, Hawkins
County, Tennessee. Cora's mother was Frances Virginia Jennie Hunley or
Hundley, b. May 20, 1896? in Tennessee and d. May 29, 1938 in Bull's
Gap, Hawkins County, Tennessee.
James Errick Christian's parents were John Christian, b. in Hawkins
County, Tennessee (dates unknown), and Mary Jane Allen, b. in Hawkins
County, Tennessee (dates unknown).
I'm afraid that is all the information I have at this point. I would
love to find out more, if anyone can help. Please let me know...I would
greatly appreciate it!!!
Thank you,
Jody

Sidney Anderson Christian (1866-1955), John F. Christian (ca. 1869-ca.
1937) and Charles Edward Christian ( 1872-1929) were three brothers from
Texas. Their mother was Sarah Sisson (1847-ca. 1912),born in Alabama.
We've been searching for their father for a long time. We've been able to
find Sarah and her children in the 1880 census in Texas, but she was
married to somebody named Herman Eldred. I thought I might be able to find
her living with her husband in 1870, between the births of the last two
children, but I haven't found them anywhere--Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas.
Both Sidney's and Charles' death certificates say their father's name was
Jim Christian, and Sidney named his second child James, so maybe that was
in honor of his father.
In 1880, somebody told the census taker that the father of the Christian
brothers was born in Tennessee, but in 1900, Sidney and Charles both told
the census taker their father was born in Alabama, which is where their
mother came from. Makes me wonder if she knew him in Alabama.
Here's the final twist: Charles died in 1929 in McCurtain County, Oklahoma
and the informant on his death certificate is listed as Jim Christian.
That Jim Christian said that Charles' father, Jim Christian, was born in
Texas.
Does anybody know anything about Jim Christian? When and where was he
born? When and where did he die? Who were his parents? Who were his
siblings?
