I am looking for any information you might be able to find in your look-ups
for the following family of CHRISTIANS :
DAVID CHRISTIAN was born about 1780 in County Wicklow, Ireland and he came
to the US in 1806 and lived and died in Albany, NY. His parents were James
Christian and Ann Horghton. His wife was Esther Webster.
Their children were:
James Christian 1803-1860
Robert Christian 1804-1877
Ann Christian 1806 -
John Christian 1807 - 1881, married Susan Weeks 1812-1845
Margaret Christian 1808 - 1891, married John Crummey 1808 - 1891
Thomas Christian 1810 - 1878 , married Arabella Caroline Prince 1820 - 1881
Elizabeth Christian 1813 -
David William Christian 1814, 1886, married Mary 1824 - and 2nd wife,
Lucy Annis Patrick 1818- 1885
I am especially interested in the family of John Christian that married Susan
Weeks.
Their family included:
John Augustus 1832
William David 1834
Susan 1837
George H. 1839
Llewelyn 1841
William David Christian was an Episcopal Minister and served as a Chaplain in
Mississippi and Alabama during the Civil War. Mary Emma Moore ( Averett)
married William David on October 25, 1875 in Lauderdale, MS.
Their children were William Garland, Fannie Eloise, and Susan Weeks.
I am trying to find additional info about Mary Emma Moore who first married a
man named Averett before she married William Christian.
I would appreciate any info you might have on these people.
Thanks, Alice

Howdy,
I have a CHRISTIAN family in NY about the time you mention. I
don't have a Stephen, but there is a hole in the series of children where
he could fit. A sister married and went to Michigan(Hudson in Lenawee co.
just south of Jackson). Her brothers and sisters went seemingly everywhere
- NC/MN/AL- you name it. I am going to Michigan this summe, and will keep
your info handy. Do you have anything else that might help locate these
folks?

To Linda:
The Christian Chronicles were edited by Agnes Branch Pearlman. Her address
when I ordered them several years ago was 2001 North Westwood Avenue, Santa
Ana, CA 92706. There were originally 12 volumes and then later a 13th one
came out that was an everyname index for those first twelve, which made them
much handier to use. I didn't realize they were currently being published.
I'll definitely have to renew my subscription. I've gotten a lot of
information out of them and I'd be happy to do some lookups for you in those
earlier issues.

I noticed your posting concerning the Christians and Altizers. Our museum,
The Wilderness Road Regional Museum, has recently started putting original
documents online and includes some on the above families. Check back often
as documents are added all the time.

I say the post about Nathaniel Christian. I am trying to track the parentage
of Nathaniel also. I have a copy of a document filed by Jane Christian to be
named as Administrator of Nathaniel's estate. His wife Jane (no last name)
filed. It has the signature of a Isham Christian and a Boydstone. Jane must
have died however as Agnes Christian and Thomas Christian were raised by a
Thomas Mastin. Thomas Christian eventually settled in Tazewell County
Virginia.
I found the will in the Montgomery County Courthouse.
What type of source documents did you find to link Nathanial and Jane and do
you have any idea when and where Jane died.

Hi-
I was most interested in your posting, as I am the 4th great granddaughter of
Thomas Christian of Tazewell. He married Louisa Harman, and I descend from
their son, John Christian who married Catherine Altizer.
I had just had unsubstantiated info that Nathaniel was Thomas's father. Could
you tell me how it is known that Thomas and Agnes (I assume his sister) were
raised by Thomas Mastin? Is there documentation of this? I have still not
even found documentation of Thomas and Louisa's marriage, or his will. Any
info would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I laughed at your email address. My license plate is "NBICU RN".
Thanks-
Cindy Spencer
Hello,
I am new to this list and would like to post my Christian interest,
which is very little I am afraid.
Mary Christian is my husband's g-grandmother. She married Thomas Doran,
just where and when I am not sure. I have found the following children
being born, from Catholic registers in Ardclogh, Kildare, Ireland:-
Catharine Doran born 2nd April, 1843 and William Doran born 5th October
1845.
William died on 17th February, 1876. Another brother James died on 17th
February, 1879, both in Dublin South.
Another daughter Anne Doran (my husband's grandmother) was born on 17th
July 1857 at Baskin, Swords, North Dublin. She married Edward Dunlop in
1877 in Dublin, and they came to Australia in 1883.
Another daughter Mary Doran, who, according to a letter sent to Anne and
Edward in 1907 "fell in for a lot of money from a gentleman she was
nursing".
Is there anyone who has any information on this family, please?
Regards
Alma.....Brisbane, Australia.
Dear Sandy:
Thanks for the information. My Christian family is from Michigan, with no
connections to Tennessee that I know of. If I make a connection, I will let
you know.
Thanks again.
Carol Rose
I'm not sure if this will help. But my great grandfather was James Christian
who married Catharine Gear. They lived in Putnam County, Tennessee in 1850.
Let me know if you need further info.
