Here's my Christian family. I know for sure who the three children of
Sarah Sisson Christian were, but I don't know for sure if their father's
name was Jim. By the time I find Sarah and her children in the census,
she's married to somebody else, and her children never mentioned their
father's name to the next generation. I got the name Jim from Sarah's son
Charles Edward's death certificate, but I have no idea if that's actually
correct.

William Payne Christian married Sarah H. Johnson 07 Dec. 1852 in Coweta Co. Ga.
Sarah was the daughter of Joel Johnson of Schocco Creek, Granville,Sc. In the
family bible of both the Johnson's and the Chrisatian's it lists a John T.
Christian b. 13 Oct. 1851 but since William and Sarah weren't married until 1852,
I don't know if this is William's son or Sarah was married before or if John was
illigimate. They went on to have the following children:
Macajah J. b. 4 Mar 1854
Martha Jane b. 7 May 1859
Joel Marion b. 19 Nov 1861
Mariellen Elizabeth b. 24 Nov.1864
Andrew Jackson b. 20 Apr 1867
Lewis Anderson b. 24 Jul 1868
John T. Christian married Nancy A.T. Young 18 Jan 1874 in Carroll Co. Ga. and if
anyone is interested, I have their chidren also and I have some of their
marriages. William Payne Christian was born in Elbert Co. Ga.and was the son of
Charles Woodson and Mary Walton Maxwell.
Hope this helps.

Yes, this is the couple I thought were the parents of my Lucy Jane
CHRISTIAN.
Were they the only William and Sarah CHRISTIAN in Elbert Co. GA
in 1819 or so? I don't have access to the 1820 census, if it still
survives.
Anyway, thanks for responding.

Hi cousins!
I am descended from Lucy Jane (CHRISTIAN) SHELNUTT, born in Elbert Co. GA in
1819 and died in Carroll Co. GA in 1874. She was the wife of Judge Nathaniel
SHELNUTT. According to her obituary, she was the daughter of William and
Sarah CHRISTIAN.
It had been my understanding that the only William and Sarah CHRISTIAN in
Elbert Co. GA in 1819 were William Payne CHRISTIAN and his wife Sarah MAXWELL.
However, recently it has been brought to my attention that Lucy Jane
supposedly had a twin sister, Eliza Frances, about whom I knew nothing.
Eliza married Barney Blackbern WESTBROOK and moved to TX. Eliza's son had
written a biography of sorts, mentioning a trip he took to visit the SHELNUTTs
in Carroll Co. GA right after the Civil War and that Judge SHELNUTT's wife
Lucy was his mother's twin sister. He also mentioned visiting his uncle John
CHRISTIAN, his mother's brother, who was living near Sandusky OH right after
the Civil War.
As far as I know, William Payne CHRISTIAN didn't have a son named John. Were
there any other William and Sarah CHRISTIANs in Elbert Co. GA in 1819? Has
anyone heard about Eliza Frances, twin of Lucy Jane? How about John, their
brother? Any documentation out there for Lucy Jane's parentage, other than
her obituary?
This really has me stumped, so I'm hoping some cousins out there can help.

Hello my name is Rhonda and I am new to the list and just wanted
to introduce myself. I am researching both my father and mother's
sides of the family. Talk about a huge undertaking. Whew. I have
had most of my luck with the Christian part of the family. It dates
back to the Isle of Man, then in 1726 they go to Virginia. Eventually
my line goes to Hilham, Overton Co., TN. My gggrandfather was
George Worth CHRISTIAN married to Louise Turner. My
ggrandmother was Sarah Perry CHRISTIAN married to Samuel
Asbury. George Worth Christian's parents were George Wales
CHRISTIAN, Jr. and Celina FISKE daughter of Moses FISKE. Feel
free to contact me for any info or corrections you might think are
necessary. Thank you, Rhonda
Looking for info on Thomas Christian and his wife Frances who were in
Lawrence Co., In. in the 1840 census and Martin Co., In. in the 1850
census. They both stated they were born in Ten. He was born 1782 and
she 1783. They most likely had a daughter by the name of Nancy who
married a Samuel Chapman and this couple had a daughter Rebecca who
married James Ray in Lawrence Co., In in 1858.

Searching for information on the family of David CHRISTIAN(1776-1847) and
Esther WEBSTER(1779-1855), both born in Ireland(Co.Wicklow). They had 10
children, some born in Ireland, some in Albany, NY. Their arrival was
between 1810 and 1814 - gathered from dates and locations of childrens'
births. How might this family be related to the CHRISTIANs of the Isle of
Man?
Thanks in advance,

I am a descendant of Martha Christian, b. 1770 Amherst Co. VA, m.
11/24/1792 to William Hansard, d. 6/26/1841, TN. I am looking for
information concerning her parents: Robert Christian, b. 1730 England, d.
10/3/1791 Amherst Co. VA who married a Mary Lucy Bradley.
Their children, in addition to Martha, are believed to be: Nancy, Drury,
John, Robert C., Samuel, m. Mary Ann Marcom, Abner, Sophia, and Sally
I would like to identify Mary Lucy Bradley's, dob, dom and dod as well as
her parents names, etc. Also would like dob etc on Martha's siblings.
Some sources show Robert Christian's father to also be a Robert Christian,
b. bef 1710 who was the son of Thomas Christian, b. abt 1684, and Rebecca
New, b. 1669. Their other children supposedly were Thomas, William, James,
Mary, Constance, Rebecca, amd Ann Mourning
I have information on Martha Christian and William Hansard's descendants
which I will be glad to share.
Thanks

I'm Glad that you got the word about the reunion. Sorry to be so late in

From Atlanta,. take I-85 North to Anderson,SC. Exit I-85 on to Clemson
Blvd. Toward Anderson. Follow signs to Belton. From Belton take SC Hwy. 247
toward Ware Place. Travel approximately 8 miles. Look for old Woodson Retail
establishment on left(most of building is white with blue trim). You should
also see A sign giving directions to Beech Springs. At this intersection
turn left. Beech Springs Campground Cafeteria will be
about one mile on your right. The reunion will be held in the cafeteria.
Directions will be provided at that time to Floral Hill, site of the museum
and my Great Grandfathers Homeplace. We look forward to meeting and visiting
with you.

I am seeking information about William CHRISTIAN and his wife, Nancy SIMPSON.
They had a daughter named Margie Loue CHRISTIAN who was born in 1875 in
Mississippi. There is a William CHRISTIAN (b. Abt 1823) and a Nancy SIMPSON
(b. Abt 1844) in the 1850 census in Pontotoc County, MS. That would make her
about 31 and him 52 when Margie Loue was born. I don't know if these are my
William and Nancy or not. Is any of this familiar to anyone?
