Here are my Christian relatives. My great-grandfather was Charles Edward
Christian. His death certificate says his father was Jim Christian, and the
information on the death certificate was provided by a Jim Christian. I
don't know if they were the same Jim Christian. That's the only evidence
we've ever seen giving Charles' father's name, so maybe it was Jim and
maybe not. The same document says Charles' parents were born in Texas, and
that's not true. His mother was born in Alabama and she told the 1880
census takers her children's father (she was living with their step-father)
was born in Tennessee, so I'm sceptical about the reliability of any other
information on that death certificate.
I do know for sure that Charles' mother was Sarah Sisson and his brothers
were Sidney and Johnny.
I'm in the process of looking at census records for every Christian family
in 1870 Texas. Sarah should have been living with ol' what's his name then
since she has Christian children born both before and after 1870. If I find
a Christian family with a wife named Sarah and sons Sidney and John, I'll
have hit pay dirt, but do you have any idea how many Christians were in
Texas in 1870!!!??? And of course, 1870 wasn't soundexed, so I copied the
Christian page out of the index book and I'm looking at each and every one
of them county-by-county. I only made it about 1/2 way through before my
time on the microfilm machine was up, so the rest will have to wait for the
next trip. I just hope they didn't decide to live in Arkansas or Oklahoma
for a while in 1870, or that the census taker didn't decide to take a
doughnut break instead of going to their house.
Do you have any additional information about my Christians?

I olny searched for Thrasher and found this family that married into my
Thrasher family. I'm sure there are other Christian families there.
If these are yours, I'd love to hear from you.

Some call me Old Glory, others call me the Stars Spangled Banner, but
whatever they call me, I am your Flag - the Flag of the United States of
America..
There has been something that has been bothering, so I thought that I
might talk it over with you here today.
I remember some time ago, (I think it was Memorial Day, or was it Veterans
Day?) that people were lined up on both sides of the street for a parade. A
high school band was behind me naturally, I was leading the parade.
When your Daddy saw me coming along waving in the breeze, he immediately removing his hat and placing it so that his right hand was directly over his heart.
And you - I remember you.
Standing there as straight as a soldier, you didn't have any hat, but you were
giving me the right salute. Remember, they taught you in school to place your
right hand over your heart, and little sister, not to be outdone, was saluting
that same as you. There were some soldiers home on leave and they were
standing at attention giving the military salute. Oh, I was very proud as I came
down your street that day.
Now, I may sound as if I am a little conceited, Well I am!
I have a right to be, because I represent you, the people of the United States
of America.
But what happened? I am still the same old flag. Oh, I have a couple more
stars added since you were a boy. A lot more stars added since the beginning
of this country, and lot more blood shed since that patriotic day so long ago.
Now I don't feel a proud as I used to. When I come down your street, some
people just stand there with their hands in their pockets and give me a small
glance and then look away. I see children running around and shouting. They
don't seem to know who I am.
Is it a sin to be patriotic anymore? Have some people forgotten what I stand for?
Have they forgotten all the battlefields where men have fought and
died to keep this nation free? When you salute me you are actually saluting
them!
Take a look at the memorial rolls some time. Look at the names of those who
never came back. Some of them were friends and relatives of yours. That's
whom you are saluting, not me!
Well, it won't be long until I'll be coming down your street again. So, when you
see me, stand straight, place your hand over your heart and you'll see me
waving back-- that's my salute to you. And then I will know you remember
who I am...

I have a rather complicated riddle with this one. Charles Christian was
born in West Chazy New york or Cooperville N.y. circa 1880. His Father's
name was Augustus Christian and his mothers was Admira DeForge. For some
reason, he changed his name to Young. He married a Mary Mae Goodrich
Deforge...again a Mystery. Mary may seemed to have been born to an Almira
Lagasse who was married to a Jospeh Deforge at the time of the birth...her
fathers name was listed as Cyril Goodrich.
She was eighteen when she married Charlie March 30, 1907. She died in
childbirth with her 14 child at the age of 34. Charles had apparently been
married once before
He was 28 when they married. Charles was apparently baptized in
Cooperville.
on their marriage certificate mary states that she is Mary ann Goodue
daughter of Alfred Goodue from Burlington Vermont and Dora Lagassee from
Quebec PC.
Are you confused? so am I.
Help
Thank you

Hi,
My name is Deanna, and I am researching my family roots. I know that my
grandfather is originally from Page County, Luray Virginia. My g/father
Thomas Edward Adams, b. June 16, 1920, d. April 1974 and his brother Ernest
Albert Adams, b. March 23, 1923, d. April 1978. Their parents were Thomas and
Edith Fry Adams. My g/father and g/uncle moved to the Pittsburgh area around
the 1930's, his father died and him mother Edith aka Edie remarried a man with
the name of White.
I am also researching the Christian family, I have gotten a little further
than the Adams search. My maternal g/father (James) parents were Catherine
Rose Thompson, b. May 19, 1884, d. November 26, 1946 and Philip James
Christian, b. June 27, 1874, d. March 12, 1958, they had 6 kids, Alfred,
Elizabeth, William, Hilda, James and Helen. Catherine and Philip are from
Charlottesville, VA. Catherine's parents were Anna Rose Ferguson and Alfred
Thompson, she had brothers Grant and Fred and a sister Ada. Philip's parents
were Philip and Millie Christian.
I have a family chart that has more in depth information, if you would to see
it let me know I will email it to you. If you have any information regarding
them or their family, or lead me in the right direction, please email me. The
Adams Family is having our first family reunion in August in Pittsburgh, PA.
Also, we are of African American heritage, if this is helpful, but I don't
think it will make a difference. If you saw the various hues of eye and skin
color in our family you would understand why it really doesn't matter.
Thank you for your patience.
Love and peace
Deanna

Dear Researcher,
Liz Newland forwarded an inquiry to me regarding publication of "Christian
Family Chronicles," the Index, and the Index to Bailey's "Christian-Skelton
History and Genealogy."
If you are that individual and are interested: Publication of the well-
received periodical, "Christian Family Chronicles" has been discontinued. I
have only four back issues available; namely, Volume Nos. I, VIII, XI, and
XII. I still honor the rate of $7.50 for any two issues ordered at the same
time. I will also photocopy a limited number of pages of articles in out-of-
print volumes.
I still have a few copies of the "Index" to the "Chronicles available at
$10.00 per copy. Also, the "Index" to Bailey's book is available for $3.00.
I have only three of those remaining.
Whether you place an order or not, I would be pleased to hear from you and to
learn about your Christian family line.
Sincerely,
Agnes Branch Pearlman

Santa Ana, California 92706-3541
Thanks for the information. I am sending this to the "list", because I
believe others would be intered in this information, too.

This may sound silly and probably is but where do I go to submit new names
of family I'm looking for.I have submitted names but now I can"t get back.
Thanks Mae
If someone out there can tell me how I can get in touch (via e-mail) with
Reita Sparrowk, I would be deeply appreciative. I have misplaced her
e-mail address, and have moved, and changed e-mail addresses myself since
last corresponding with her.

Does anyone know of Agnes Branch Pearlman is still selling her volumes
of periodicals? And the index? And the index to Bailey's
Christian-Skelton History and Genealogy?
Thanks for posting to list, as I am sure there are others who are not
aware of all the work this lady did, and would like to obtain the
printed information.
Hi! I'm new to the Christian list and trying to sort out the following
people:
First, I'm looking for parents of Mary Christian who married William
OGLESBY(b. c1774), either around Campbell County, VA or Elbert County,GA.
William Oglesby's mother, Martha BRADLEY (b. c1753), was the daughter of
William BRADLEY and Elizabeth (maybe CHRISTIAN).
Thanks!
