Since posting the wills that I found, simply, on the Internet, I have been
asked several times which line of Christian I am searching for. Well, I'll
do my best in posting the information here, however limited the information
is, because I'm stuck in a part that I feel has turned from a brick wall
into a wall of steel about 30 inches thick.

Family history has it that Lucy Ann Christian was first cousin to Letitia
Christian Tyler, President John Tyler's wife.
It is believed that Lucy's fathers name is Charles, but it is not known
which Charles, where, etc. I have all kinds of Christian information, but,
nothing has Lucy in it, so I'm only hoping she was just accidentally
forgotten in someone's family group sheet somewhere along the line.
Any help would be appreciated.

Earl and May-
I appreciated your posting on Allen Christian. Wondered if you knew any of
the spouses of Allen Christian's (b. 1754) children. I am particularly
interested in Thomas, b. 1779. My gggg grandfather Thomas Christian was b.
abt 1770 and m. Louisa Harman, dau of Matthias Harman and Lydia Skaggs.
Thomas lived in the Tazewell Co., VA area. I have not yet tracked his
parentage, and wondered if your Thomas could be a fit.
I also do not know all of my Thomas Christian's children. I do know of:
Nancy, b. 3 Oct 1812 in Tazewell Co., VA
John, b. 1804, m. in 1837 to Katy Altizer in Tazewell Co. (THIS IS MY LINE)
David, b. 1801 in Tazewell, may have married Linea Trent
Thanks for your time. I am hoping to find my Tazewell Co., VA Christians!

I may have sent this message before, but am repeating since my past messages
seem to have gone to some jewelry seller.
I'm looking for an Elam Christian, who was born in 1842 somewhere in Virginia.
Late 1800 census reports, when he was in the Atlanta area, indicate both he and
his parents were born in Virginia. In Georgia, he was a newspaper editor and
worked for many years at the Atlanta Constitution.
He is my great-grandfather, and I have nothing on his ancestors. Does anyone
have anything on this man?
Thanks

Audrey,
<< I note that in the Christian Family Chronicles (Vol VII, Jan 1982) there
is a Descendants Chart with William Payne CHRISTIAN and Sarah MAXWELL
having a son Jesse George CHRISTIAN. Can you connect Lucy Jane
Christian Shellnut with being Jesse's sister? >>
Yes, Lucy was Jesse's sister.
Ann MAXWELL, wife of Jesse George CHRISTIAN, was born 25 Dec 1816 to John
MAXWELL and Agnes HENRY. This John MAXWELL was the son of Rev. Thomas MAXWELL
Jr. and Mary PEMBERTON. And he was the brother of my Sarah MAXWELL. Ann's
sister Mary Walton MAXWELL married Jesse's brother Charles Woodson CHRISTIAN
on 18 Jan 1827. Therefore, the two CHRISTIAN boys married their first
cousins.
This information can be found in the genealogy of Thomas MAXWELL, which quoted
Rev. MAXWELL's family bible entries as well as some other sources.
Evidently, MAXWELL and SHELLNUT researchers knew for a long time that William
Payne and Sarah (MAXWELL) CHRISTIAN had six children, but they could find only
five of them. My Lucy Jane is the sixth one, which makes everyone really
happy. But I'd like to find some really concrete proof, other than the
obituary and the IGI. I haven't sent away for the proof that was submitted to
the IGI, that is my next step. There may be a will, land records, etc. out
there. Who knows? <G>
Thanks for your response.

I'm seeking further proof that Lucy Jane (CHRISTIAN) SHELLNUT, who married
Nathaniel SHELLNUT on 3 Jan 1839 in Fayette Co. GA, was the daughter of
William Payne CHRISTIAN and Sarah MAXWELL of Elbert Co. GA. So far I have
just Lucy's obituary to prove the connection.
Lucy's obituary says she was born in Elbert Co. GA on 2 Nov 1819. She and her
husband lived in Fayette Co. GA after their marriage but were in Carroll Co.
GA by 1849, when their son John was born there. Lucy died in Bowdon, Carroll
Co. GA on 22 Oct 1874. Nathaniel survived her and died in Bowdon on 18 Sep
1907. Nathaniel and Lucy Jane (CHRISTIAN) SHELLNUT had the following children:
stillborn child
Bryant Allen b 28 Jul 1841
Willliam Christian b 25 Jul 1843
Mary Jane b 15 Sep 1844; m Zachariah Alexander HOOD 1866 in Carroll Co. GA

I've resubscribed and this is my first new posting.
I am looking for info and ancestors for Elizabeth GENTRY, supposedly born in
SC on 11 Mar 1775. She married Andrew SHELLNUT ca 1797, probably in Franklin
Co. GA. He was from the Cuffietown area of Edgefield Co. SC.
Andrew died in 1825. Elizabeth eventually moved to Carroll Co. GA to live
with her son Andrew Joseph SHELLNUT. She is listed in his household on the
1850 census. Elizabeth died in Carroll Co. GA on 16 Mar 1854.
Andrew and Elizabeth (GENTRY) SHELLNUT had 13 children. I'm descended from
their youngest, Nathaniel SHELLNUT b 1822, probably in Franklin Co. GA. He
married Lucy Jane CHRISTIAN in 1839 in Fayette Co. GA and eventually moved to
Bowdon, Carroll Co. GA, where Nathaniel was a Judge and merchant.
The children of Andrew and Elizabeth were:
John b 1798
Rebekah b 1800, m Henry DAVIS
William b 1802, m Nancy LAMBRETH
Lavinia b ca 1804 -- twins?
David b ca 1804 -- twins?

Apology To All!
Sorry about this personal message that was sent to the list in error.
As you see it was suppose to go to a new cousin,
Christina
not Christian List.
I just put her in my address book yesterday.
Hopefully I did not create any problems for anyone and you can see and
understand the error.

I need help from the old home state: could someone look up in the
Hopkinsville, KY marriages about 1843 for a Charles WEBSTER, born NC
second marriage, to Delila_______born NC about 1813.
If there is a death record for the second wife, an obit or vital record,
I do not know here name but she is the mother or my direct ancester,
John G. Webster. Since John had a kid he named Green for a first name, I
am wondering if her name was Green. He was born in NC also. Death records
often have counties listed and I do not know where to look in NC.
thank you to any one who can help this ole Kyguy.

Morning Again Christina!
Here you go Christina this is my direct line form Benjamin HART and Nancy
MORGAN.
Just a little word again on names. Again, Morgan has been traditionally named
as one of Benjamin & Nancy's sons. Morgan HART m. Katie SIZEMORE.
It apppears, and also shows on my grandmothers DAR application, that he may
have gone by James or Thomas or Morgan or James Morgan, etc.
On my grandmothers DAR application it shows in one place, James Thomas Morgan
HART.
And another just Morgan, as he seemed to be more commonly refered to.
It also has him married to Katie SIZEMORE.
Some other HART/SIZEMORE researchers have James HART m. Catherine "Dolly" SIZEMORE.
Some say they can't prove who James parents were, some say that this James
HART and Catherine "Dolly" SIZEMORE belong to another HART family in NC.
A Morgan HART does appear on some documents in NC. as being appointed the
Attorney in Fact for one of Benjamin's brothers.
I'm still working on it! On and off though. Not haveing the records close at
hand etc. kind of hard to do, and I get side tracked in other lines.
I do have few copies of some of the petitions that were made by some Harts and
Sizemores, and it really doesn't confirm or despell anything, except I've got
work to do! ;-)
I'll send you some more information today if I get a chance. I'm trying for a
"well day" today at work! ;-)
I have no kids, no husband, right now. They're in Spokane visiting my parents
and I'd like one day at home by myself before they come home tomorrow!

I am looking for information about an Elam Christian, who was a minister and a
newspaper editor in both Macon and Atlanta Ga. around 1900. He married a Helen
Burr, daughter of Augustus P. Burr, who also was a Georgia newspaper man.
Does anyone have any information on this Elam Christian. He was my
great-granddad. Thanks.

<< I'm interested in finding one or 2 other CHRISTIAN family cemeteries
in the areas of VA, WV and KY. The line I'm following is the one related to
Agnes Pearlman of the Christian Chronicles publications (Is she still
putting these out? She and my MIL were cousins and in touch up to my MIL's
death 10 years ago) We found and visited the one around Emmett in Logan
county, WV, the burial place of many of the cousins who were in that area
mostly just before and after the Civil War, and described by Agnes in her
publications. I believe mostly the sons of James Pine CHRISTIAN and their
contemporaries are here, as well as some slave burials of the time. Now I'd
like to find the previously used places probably in VA and the ones used by
the majority of the family when only that one brother stayed in WV and the
rest moved on to KY. That would lead me to the burial place of the
patriarch of the family, Thomas CHRISTIAN. Thanks in advance for the help.
By the way, have any of you in this line ever shown that these folks
go back to the PINE family(James PINE) in either Greenbrier or Monroe county
WV, was then VA?

Is your Thomas Christian the same guy b. abt 1770, that married Louisa Harman
and lived in Tazewell Co., VA? If so, I am trying to track his children.
Please let me know if we have the same Thomas-
Thanks,
Cindy
