Who was asking about James Christian of Antioch, Contra Costa Co, CA??
It turns out I have an obituary for his wife who died 17 Dec 1924 (it also
seems that she had no first name; just "Mrs. James...")
Let me know if you want it.

Hello ~ For anyone also researching the CHRISTIAN surname in Kentucky, I wonder if we may have a connection? "My" CHRISTIAN branch so far contains only Charles Christian born in (Kenton County?) Kentucky married Mary Peel (Peek) ~~ I have documentation on it's way to me right now to confirm PeeL or PeeK ~~. Charles and Mary were the parents of Mary Elizabeth Christian (b.1865 d. 1936) who married Herman Willenborg. I know of other resources yet to check, but thought I'd see if any of these (Charles and/or Mary) show up in your Kentucky information?
Thank you in advance... Rhonda alkmom(a)msn.com
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/3286/surnames.html (My Family Tree)
I'm hoping to find a connection to my Christian relatives. When Charles
Christian (b. 1872) died in 1929, his father filled out his death
certificate and stated that Charles and both of his parents, Jim Christian
and Sarah Sisson, were born in Texas, so I figure the family must have been
there since at least 1852.
I don't have names for Jim's parents, nor do I know anything more about
him. In fact, I only found out his name Friday when I got Charles' death
certificate.
I'm posting what I know of my lines below. Do you have a connection to or
knowledge about my Christian family?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Here's what I know about my George W.
He was born in New York state ca. 1828 of unknown parents who were also
born in New York. I think I found him in 1850 living in a boarding house in
Utica, Oneida Co., occupation silversmith. By 1852 he was mining for gold
in Calavaras Co, CA. Probably by 1856 he was in Contra Costa Co, CA
married to Katherine Birmingham.

Possibly. There seems to have been two Christian families in Contra Costa
County. I don't have a James, but he could have been an off-spring of one
of the brothers of my Great grandfather
Here's what I've got that might help:
George Washington CHRISTIAN (1828-1901), had the following sons:
William Edwin (1857-1927)
Charles W. (1859-prob. bef. 1953)
Henry A. (1862-1929)
Frederick H. (1864-1937)
Thomas J. (1866- prob bef 1953)
Benjamin F. (1873-1955)
George (1877 - prob bef 1953)
Do you know who James's parents were?

I have a George W. CHRISTIAN, Jr. b. Apr 10, 1802. His wife was Celina FISK,
b. 1814. Their first child was born Aug 07, 1832, so theoretically, he could
have been married before, and have a family that I never knew about.

I am looking for any information about Martha Jane CHRISTIAN, b. 1869 and d.
abt. 1956 in Cordova, AL. She married John Henry WHATLEY, b. 1858 and d. 1926.
The 1900 census lists her as being born in AL as well as her parents. She and
John Henry had 9 children who were all born around Tuscaloosa and many lived
in that area.
Could there be a connection?
Is anyone here from the line of Lewis Calvin Christian of Atchison County MO?
I have a photo which I think is him and would like to confirm. He is holding
an infant (unknown but likely my Laura Christian Johnson since I have it and
that's my line). I have the file scanned and can send a .jpg to whomever
thinks they may help me. For what it's worth, this photo does look very like a
younger version of the man seated in the photo of the LC Christian family
printed in the Christian Family Chronicals. Please contact me personally at
