William was born to parents Alfred and Marit Christenson December 11. 1917 near Renner. He was baptized and confirmed at Renner Lutheran Church where he has been a lifelong member.
William married Nina Jurgens September 28, 1940 in Sioux Falls. After his marriage he lived in Renner his entire life.
He retired from hauling milk in 1980 after 43 years.
William died Monday, September 9, at Sioux Valley Hospital.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife. Nina, Renner; two sons Fred, Riverton, Wyoming and Mark. Renner; a daughter. Mrs. Wade (Janice! Peterson. Renner; three grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter; a brother G. I. (Doc) Christenson Sioux Falls; and three sisters, Hazel Peterson, Orange. California, Mrs. Palmer (Alice) Nustad and Mrs. Sophie Bade both of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

Rudolph Bernhard Christenson was born Oct. 8, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Christenson at Renner, SD. He was baptized and confirmed into the Nidaros Congregation and was a member of the Renner Lutheran Church at the time of his death.
He was inducted into military service, Oct. 17, 1942 and served for 3 years with 3191st Signal Service Command, taking part in the Luzon Campaign receiving the Phillipian Liberation Ribbon with one star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged Feb. 9, 1946.
While enroute to the west coast he became ill and was hospitalized at Casper, Wyoming, where he passed away on the morning of Sept. 2, at the age of 46 years and 11 months.
Surviving him are four brothers, Andrew Brekke, Lehigh Acres, Florida; and Carl, George I. And William of Renner, and five sisters Mrs. Iver Nelson (Annie), Mrs. Ivan Mekvold (Serina) and Mrs. P. A. Nustad (Alice), Renner; Mrs. Sophie Bade, Sioux Falls and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson (Hazel) of Orange, Calif.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral of Mrs. Marit Christenson
The funeral of Mrs. Marit Christenson was held Friday, Oct 4 at the Renner Church with Rev. P. M. Troen officiating. Two vocal solos, "Jevg ved mig en Sovn i Jesu Navn" and "Going Home" were sung by Mrs. Arthur Nelson with Mrs. Troen as accompanist.
Honorary pallbearers were: Tom Aspaas, Martin Oien, S. P. Brende, Ed Nessan, Ole Schjodt, and Art Nessan. Active pallbearers were: Herman Brende, Noble Valerio, Bennett Mekvold, Adrian Nelson, Richard Christenson and Leeland Nelson.
Mrs. Christenson was a good homeloving mother and was held in very highest esteem by all who knew her. This was shown by the big crowd of friends and relatives who turned out to pay her the last tribute. It was also shown by floral offerings and memorial gifts in the form of money to church work to the amount of $137.50, divided as follows: Missions, $55, Renner church pipe organ fund, $67; children's home at Beresford, S. D. $2; and crippled children's fund at Sioux Valley Hospital $13.50.
Those from a distance attending were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nelson, Colman, S.D.; Ole Christenson, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; Bernt Rinnan, Chicago, Ill., and Mr. And Mrs. Ernest Nessan, Arlington, S.D.
Interment was made at the East Side cemetery with the Minnehaha Burial association in charge.

Obituary - Marit Oien
Marit Oien was born in Meraker, Norway, May 19, 1874 to Halvor and Gundhild Oien. She was baptized May 25, the same year by Rev. Christian Erlandsen and confirmed April 13, 1890 by Rev. Jacob Fredrickson.
On Nov. 2, 1905 she united in marriage to Andreas Brekke to which union three children were born. She was left a widow on May 17, 1899 and two years later departed for America and arrived in Baltic in the spring of 1901.
On April 29, 1905 she was married to Alfred Christenson of Renner, S.D. and nine children were born to this union. They resided on a farm near Renner until 1920 when they moved to Renner.
Nineteen years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she almost entirely recovered and made a trip to the west coast and to Alaska in 1930.
A few years later she was again stricken and for the past seven years has been confined to a wheel chair and has been making her home alternately with her daughters.
Saturday evening, Sept. 28 she suffered another stroke from which she did not regain consciousness and slept peacefully away at 11:40 p. m. Monday, Sept. 30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Irvin Mekvold.
Three sisters and five brothers preceded her in death besides her husband and one son who died in infancy.
Surviving are the following children: Halvor, Annie (Mrs. Iver Nelson), Carl, Ingall, Serina (Mrs. Irvin Mekvold), Alice (Mrs. Palmer Nustad), Rudolph and William, all of Renner, Andrew of Sioux Falls, Sophie (Mrs. Cecil Bade) of Richmond, Calif., and Hazel (Mrs. Kenneth Peterson) of Long Beach, Calif.,; a sister, Mrs. Hanna Rinnan of Chicago, Ill., a brother, Lars Oien and an aged stepfather in Norway; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A kind and loving mother was Mrs. Christenson and all through her years of suffering she had been patient and cheerful, never complained that her lot was too heavy to bear.

George I. "Doc" was born to parents Alfred and Marit Christenson on December 12, 1906, at Renner. He was baptized at West Nidaros Lutheran Church and confirmed at East Nidaros Lutheran Church.
He attended country school near Renner and then farmed with his father until 1922. He then worked with his father in their grocery store in Renner and was postmaster for a few years. In 1942 he went to work on the Alaskan Highway. He returned to Renner where he owned and operated his own trucking business until his retirement in 1970.
He married Esther Willard on December 11, 1949, in Luverne, Minnesota. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1980.
Doc was a member of Renner Lutheran Church, Renner Senior Citizens, and helped organize the Renner Fire Department and was a member for many years. He was an avid baseball fan and hunter.
Doc died Thursday, January 17, 1991, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Esther, Sioux Falls; two sons, Richard, Renner, and Roger, Sioux Falls; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sophie Bade, Sioux Falls, and Hazel Peterson, Hesperia, California.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

ESTHER CHRISTENSON
Esther was born April 14, 1914, at Arlington to parents Halvor and Ella tommervik. As a young child she moved with her parents to the Sinai area where she grew up. She married George I. "Doc" Christenson December 11, 1949, in Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Renner and moved to Sioux Falls in 1980. Esther worked as the Mapleton Township Assessor and later was the office manager for Kuehn Wholesaler in Sioux Falls.
Esther was baptized in Arlington and confirmed at Sinai Lutheran Church. She was a long-time member of Renner Lutheran Church where she served as secretary.
Doc died January 17, 1991. Esther died Friday, September 6, 1996, at Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.
Grateful for having sharred her life aree a son, Roger, Sioux Falls; a step-son, Richard "Dick" Christenson, Renner; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Agnes Burtch, Sioux Falls, Myrtle Termley, Minneapolis, and Loretta Maher, Pomona, California, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
The family of Esther Christenson thanks you all for coming today and invites you to lunch in the church following the service.

Carl [Charlie] Christenson was born November 2. 1905 of parents Alfred and Marit Christenson of Renner, S. D. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a member of the Renner Lutheran Church at the time of his death. He spent his entire life in the Renner area.
Carl passed away at Terrace Manor on May 15, 1973 at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three brothers; Andrew Brekke of Lehigh Acres, Florida, George I. and William A. Christenson, both of Renner, S. D.; four sisters, Mrs. Irvin [Serena] Mekvold, Mrs. Palmer [Alice] Nustad, both of Renner, Mrs. Sophie Bade of Sioux Falls, S. Clara taught rural school in Minnehaha County for a few years and then moved to the Oakland, California area. She married Ingemann Soren "Curley" Christensen on July 3, 1934, in California. They lived in San Bernardino where Ingemann owned Christensen Ice Cream Company with his brother. Ingemann died February 2, 1970. Clara moved back to Sioux Falls and later moved to the Brandon area.
She was a member of the Renner Lutheran Church, the Renner and Swedona Ladies Aids, Augustana Fellows, Sons of Norway, Baltic American Legion Auxiliary and Minnehaha County Historical Society. Clara and her sister, Emily, translated the Norwegian Pioneer History of Minnehaha County and helped with the Renner Lutheran Church History.
Clara died Saturday, November 24, 1990, at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.
Grateful for having shared her life are her brother, Elmer Brende, Sr., Renner; a sister, Emily Sittig, Brandon; a step-sister, Margaret Wilkin, Bloomington, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.
