A few years ago I bought an old cabinet photo in Lincoln City, Oregon. There a name written on the back that reads,"Mrs L.H. Christensen, Gig Harbor, WA." Below that is, "3 yrs, 4 mos, and 30 yrs." The word "Mathison" is faint in pencil also.
It was photographed by "Ida B. Smith Photo Studio, Olympia, Wash."
Please let me know if this is in your lineage or family database and you are interested in the photo.
Bill

Hi,
I am trying to find out more information about my great grandparents, Magnus and Martha Christianson. Magnus was born in Norway 5/24/1887 and immigrate to the US in 1908. He was naturalized in 1913. According to family history, his last name was spelled Christensen, but when he immigrated/was naturalized he changed the spelling to Christianson because he thought it was more "American" looking. He married Martha Smith, who was born in NY in 1890. They lived in Brooklyn, NY, and had 4 children, including my grandfather. My mother also remembers that Magnus had a relative (a cousin??) who also lived in Brooklyn, named Aarvid Christensen. Martha died in 1943, and Magnus died 7/21/1951. Family history is muddled here, but according to my grandmother, Magnus had had a nervous breakdown and was in an asylum in/near Brooklyn when he died. Supposedly he had been smoking in a bathroom and had started a fire that killed him. I would love help finding out any more information!
about either Magnus or Martha's families, plus anything about the asylum and/or fire killed Magnus. Thanks!
