son of: Christian Christensen and Anna Marie Hansen
m. October 21, 1896, Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey to Anna Marie (Mary) Hansen
Circa 1890, he came to America and settled in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
Carl became a US citizen on September 1, 1896.
At the time of their marriage (1896), Carl was living at 132 Gordon Street in Perth Amboy. He was listed as 25 years old and a mason. Anne was living at 3 Maple Street in Perth Amboy. She was listed as 25 years old. They were married by Rev. V.B. Skov, pastor of Our Saviour's Danish Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy.
When he was 25 years old (circa 1897), Carl went into business for himself.
In the 1900 census, the family was living at 128 Woodbridge Avenue in Perth Amboy. Carl was listed as Carl C., 28 years old, born October 1871, born in Denmark, married 4 years, immigrated in 1890, in the US 10 years, naturalized, and a building contractor. Anna Marie was listed as Mary, 27 years old, born June 1872, born in New Jersey, parents born in Denmark, married 4 years, and the mother of 2 children that were both still living. The children were: Niels C. 2 and Waldemar 1.
Circa 1907, Carl built a home at 139 State Street in Perth Amboy.
In the 1910 census, the family was living at 139 State Street in Perth Amboy. Carl was listed as Carl C., 38 years old, born in Denmark, married 13 years, immigrated in 1890, naturalized, and a building contractor. Anna Marie was listed as Anna M., 37 years old, born in New Jersey, parents born in Denmark, married 13 years, and the mother of 8 children where 7 were still living. The children were: Niels 12, Walter 11, Arnold 9, Anders 7, Annette 3, Kathrine 2, and Elinore 5 months.
In the 1920 census, the family was living at 139 State Street in Perth Amboy. Carl was listed as 48 years old, born in Denmark, immigrated in 1889, and a builder. Anna Marie was listed as Mary, 47 years old, born in New Jersey, and parents born in Denmark. The children were: Niels 21, Arnold 19, Anders 17, Annette 13, Kathrine 11, and Elinore 10.
It appears that Carl remarried sometime before 1930.
In the 1930 census, the family was living on Alboum? Street in Raritan Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Carl was listed as Carl C., 59 years old, born in Denmark, 25 years old when first married, immigrated in 1886, naturalized, and a building material retailer. His wife Emily was listed as Emily N., 53 years old, born in New York, parents born in Denmark, and 24 years old when first married. The children were: Kathrine 21 and Eleanore 19. They were living near sons Nels C., Walter C., and Anders G.
Carl built many of the building in Perth Amboy including: the Danish Lutheran Church, the Penn Street Catholic Church, and the Danish Methodist Church.
Carl was on the Board of Education. He was a director of the Perth Amboy Savings Institution and the Citizens' Building and Loan Association. He was vice-president of the Perth Amboy Building and Loan Association. He was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Elks and the Dana Society. He enjoyed motoring.
