re: R.L. Christensen (spelled Christensin) family photo postmarked Dec.
1914 Gentry Arkansas mailed to his father William Christensen (spelled
Christensin) living in Sulphur Spring Arkansas. Beautiful handwriting!
Given that "Christensen" is a made-up word in Danish meaning "son of
Christen," christensin would be a misspelling!

I hate to see possible genealogy information sold off without contacting the family first.

Christensen family ancestor photos were just listed on eBay.
Apparently they were taken prior to 1867 and the death of the photographer (G.D. Merrill).

Re. JENS P. CHRISTENSEN, I have recently found that Jens would have been born in 1854 in Denmark. From the Marriage certificate it says JENS father is LORENG CHRISTENSEN & Mother is: BENDICTA CHRISTENSEN. I'm not sure when he died, I know on my GGrandmothers Death certificate it says she is a widow. They were married June 4th, 1927 in South Fort George, BC Canada. So JENS must have passed away sometime between 1927 & 1941.
Does anyone have any information on this family?

Hi
I don't fully understand your message. Do you have information about a blak christensen in Denmark? And if so what kind of information?
Look forward to your reply
Kind regards
Arne
My Great Grandfather Christian Torben Christensen was born 9 April 1859
in Harsens, Denmark.
He married Carrie Karen Olesen born 12 Oct 1862 in Harsen, Denmark on 20
Jun 1887 in Gibson City, Ford County, Illinios. The family then moved to
Audrain County, Missouri. My grandmother, Katie Annie Christensen
married Torgen Madsen (John) Skow and moved to Humboldt County, Iowa.

re: Looking for any information on the Christiansen's or Christensen's
born in Denmark in the 1860's or 1870's. (ron-patricia.parks)
Well, in Denmark the law (lutheran church) specifies a list of
acceptable given names.
Then, Denmark followed a patronymic naming system in the 1800s which
means if your father was named Christen or Christian, your "surname"
would be Christensen or Christiansen if you were male and
Christensdatter or Christiansdatter if female.
Then of course if you were Jens Christensen, your children would be
Jensens and Jensdatters. Only if you were Christen Christensen would
"Christensen" last more than one generation.
What this means is GOOD LUCK searching Denmark for Christensens. It was
NOT a surname in the 1800s. (which means there is no coat-of-arms,
either, BTW.)
You have to know the parish where your relatives resided and then
perhaps you can view census records and recognize your group based on
names and numbers of siblings.

Looking for any information on the Christiansen's or Christensen's born in Denmark in the 1860's or 1870's. There was Ludvig and he had 13 sisters. Some were named Minnie, Nielsine, Andrea, Marie, and Caroline. Minnie immigrated to the United States in 1890 and married Franklin Culmsee, then a Reese. She was my gg grandmother. Minnie was born June 4, 1873 in Denmark and died Nov. 25, 1946 in Iowa. I have three WWII era letters handwritten in Danish which mention names and ages.
