all the names sound verry firmiliar, of course being danish that might not mean alot..lol. i have a difficult time finding members of this line because it it my dad's side. if my father were alive he would be in his eightys. his grandmother was carrie (sorenson) lillicrap. on his mother's side "grace (lillicrap) harrington. carrie's father was nels sorenson. i beleive it to be through him i link to the neilsons. my grandfather leslie harrington was a carpenter and i know he had built several houses for i beleive chris christensen wich was imediate family to grandma. great grandma carrie had a picture of her grandmother. on the picture my grandmother wrote " mrs.a.m. christensen.. carrie's grandma". family here had many trades ,but most seemed to revolve around wood. everything from carpentry to boats. one relative even made some type of raceing schooner still knowen. i borrowed grandma's old scrapbook from my uncle and copied alot of it. i know as well grandmother always had!
an old hutch that had an old horn on it. something to do with family but i cant remember the whole story. my uncle said he was never told the story but i remember grandma telling me and my brothers once. seems we were the only ones who could blow it. funny , thinking back i can almost relive it. sad thing is i saw a family fight over money when she passed. when the dust settled a family member even ended up giving me a little. i guess i'm funny that way. i would give it all up with intrest for that damn old horn..lol. mam, the danish names got my hopes up so many times thinking i found family. i swore to my self to step away ,but i will try once more. send some imfo to me at "tharring7(a)yahoo.com" and i will see if there are any additional matches. i do as well have some scanned photos i got from the old scrap book. if you have any photos i will look for a match as well. with the photos it is best if they are prior to wwii. early 1900's and late 1800's would be best. you do!
seem to be a posible fit in this line. i look forward to hearing from
you and god speed. sincerly,todd

i should have phrased that diferently. i know what aka means as well as the danish nameing systems. where i was confused was in the way you had phrased it. i too am looking for these names and have come across a gentleman with the same links in my family imformation. i was mearly looking for imformation on the connection in your line and any additional imformation so i could find if mine were the same. the danes are fine people ,but a pain to track down in geniology. in fact if you think the bank issue was bad you should try to imagine the civil war pension issue. durring the civil war many danes entered with one name, changed it to fit with the fathers first name during the war or when they were mustared out. many then changed it again to fit with a custom to of using the name of the home in denmark. some names changed even more as they changed the ...sen to ...son ,etc. i could not imagine a poor widow fileing for a desceaced veterans pension.

Hello, Todd,
AKA stands for "also known as." As you know, Danish people for centuries used patronyms as their last names. But when Fredrik had his family, the government had changed that and told people to keep the last names they already had and to stop using patronyms. However, people's habits don't change all of a sudden. Fredrik's legal surname was Christensen, and he told his children that whenever they signed a legal document or such they were to write "Christensen." Their neighbors, who were mostly from Denmark, called them "Sorensen," though, which would have been Fredrik's patronym.
It was very confusing for future generations, not understanding why they had had two last names. One time my mother was at the bank, trying to cash a check. For identification, they asked her what her mother's maiden name was. Wouldn't you know it, she gave the wrong name! The teller said, "That's not what we have here." People stared at Mama like she was trying to do something dishonest, and she slunk out of the bank.
