There is now a Christensen Family Project where you can list your direct line by earliest ancestor (on the Patriarch Page). We'll also list your name and provide your email address so that interested researchers can contact you.

We have had wonderful results on the first three family projects where I have done this. It has really stimulated sharing and interest in working out the “paper trails”.

Lots of Danish families had a son named Niels. It's one of the "approved" names.
That's why there's no many Nielsens. (Nelsons, too.)

I am unsure if we are speaking about the same Peter, but my great-great grandfather was born (what I believe to be 1843). His wifes name was Kristine...Stine...Chris (I have seen it spelt all 3 ways). The reason I wonder if there is a conncection is because he named one of his sons Niels. I beileve Peter and his wife immigrated to the States (Michigan) in the 1870s also. The reason I believe this is becuase their daughter was born in 1869 in Denamrk prior to immigrating. The first census I can find them in is 1880 where they had chidlren named Anne, Peter, Maggie, Dagmar, Hans, and Eliza..all born in the 1870s in Michigan. I do also think they had one more child with the intials A.E. I dont know if this helps and if there is any connection, but let me know.
