Subject: Chrystal family Universal greetings
hello Bob
I am interested in this article i found on roots web,
Hi Nadine
I'm researching my family tree and found an old entry on Rootsweb about your surname. I've just found a Christall from Stockton-on Tees who was my gggg grandmother. She's slightly outside your original dates--she would have been born in the late 18th century and had 3 children between 1806 and 1810--she was married to a John Duncan, originally from Arbroath,Scotland. Have you come across her before? The only other Christall I have found so far was a William C who was buried in Stockton in 1811 ,age 72.
Many thanks,merry Xmas
Phil
I am a direct decendant of John Duncan, he was my mothers great great grandfather who became a river tees pilot in the 1820's. we know that he was press ganged in Arbroath around 1799, and jumped ship of the coast at Redcar on the mouth of the River Tees and made is way to Stockton. he stayed with the Chrystal family, William Chrystal was a baker and later John Duncan married one of William's daughters, from then on the name Chrystal was adopted into the family and all there children became chrystal duncan's and so on. My mother is one of the last chrystal duncan's living she is 69 this year.
my father as researched the duncan family for nearly 40 years now collecting information and talking to relatives, the Duncan's became a very important family running a ferry services on the River Tees.
I was wondering if you still had the contact details for phil and jenny who sent you this message. we would very like to know if the have any information regarding John Duncan from Arbroath
Regards
richard
