God Bless the record keepers!
I have just found documentation that my John Christall born 1830 and whom served the Frontier Forces in Texas in the 1860-1870's had actually also served the United States Infantry in 1858. Having requested on numerous occasions his records from the National Archives, and they being on numerous occasions confused to the spelling of his name, we have at long last received information that John Christall enlisted at age 27 in Chicago Illinois, and that his birth place was DURHAM ,ENGLAND. He came to Texas originally with Company A of the 7th Infantry and here he stayed settling in the Kinney County Region near Del RioTexas.
I found some years ago a marriage record at Stockton on the Tees at Durham England... listing only the grooms name of John Christall year 1818. This well could have been the father of my John Christall marrying 14 years before his birth. Anyone have access to the Joiner index or listings with Durham England marriage records?
