Hi Cynthia -
Sorry it took a while to get back to you! I did speak to my mother about it and it turns out we are probably no relation. My family is as follows:
We are descended from Georg Christ of Schenken, near Wüirzburg, Bavaria, who moved to Hausen an der Zaber, in Württemberg after marriage in 1799. The family there was George>Andreas b. 1814>Ludwig Andreas b. 1844. The family immigrated in 1853 from Hausen and my great-grandfather Andreas Friedrich was born in 1872 in Buffalo. There are no Adolphs in the family that I know of.
When I visited Germany a few years ago and spoke to an expert in Wüirzburg, it was explained to me that "Christ" is a fairly common surname for converted Jews from that time, so there may be many German Christs out there who are not directly related at all. I don't know how much validity there is to this, but it does give another idea for places to look.
Georg is as far back as we have been able to find records; he was the wine steward at the monastery in Wüirzburg which is usually a hereditary position so hopefully the church will have records dating back further.

Does anyone know of the Christ family from New Britain, CT? My gg grandfather was Ernest Konrad Christ. He was born in Kircheimbolanden, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany in 1848 and emigrated to America in 1868. He married Jenny Burnett Wilson in 1873. They had 5 children, whose names were Jennie Margarthe, Ernest Wilson, Emily Agatha, George Edward, and Fanny Day. Any information would be helpful!
