I recognize a few names on the list who later appear in Berks co./ Tulpehocken Settlers list, but the George Christ, son of Adam Christ arrived on 13 June 1710 on the LYON of the Keith Shipping. This George was in Annsburg, NY of the Schoharie Valley Towns along with Johann (Jaochim) Michael Christ. Conrad Weisner attests to the presence of Adam, George's father on the ship. The homestead property was located 1 1/2 miles east of Bernville, PA. So, this would be registered as Northkill Twp, as Penn Twp. was called back then. I find no tax record for this property. But I did find a Geo. Christ s. m. (single male) owning 40 acres in Douglas Twp. in 1769. Could it be possible that original settlers were exempt? Thanks for your info and questions. they are interesting and help me find further details for my research. Please keep in contact with me. I think we may find our particular ancesters soon.

The William Christy married to Elizabeth Miller at Stouchsburg, are my 4th greatgrandparents. Where they came from and where they ended up is what concerns me. I've never found a birth date or death place for them.
George Christ, widower, married to Elizabeth Kutzmueller, had 5 minor daughters when he died in 1761. George born in 1777 is their grandson . The George who died in 1774 came from Pfungstadt on the ship Mortonhouse in 1729. I have the George who died in Longswamp in 1770 as the son of
Henry Christ.

Brenda Creasy presents a list of Christ Marriages with William Christy(e) and Elisabeth Miller being married on 12-3-1801 at Christ Lutherna Church in Stouchsburg, Berks. The German tradition of surname suffices according to widowship or paupership (disowned), has been ignored by every account of this record. Widows (ers) may add the 'in' ending to their surname. People in debt or disenfranchised ended their name with an 'e'. Other sources claim that this was a Scotsman named Christie, but I found the Scotsman born in Cumberland County.

I have a Johannes George, widower, marrying Maria Elizabeth Kutzmueller on 6-30-1752 at Christ Evangelic Lutheran Church in Tulpehocken. Later, a George Christ (maybe Johannes) being father of the baptized John George, born 3-31-1777, baptized on 4-27-1777, witnessed by George Mueller at Altahala Church in Rehrersburg. I 've found two Georges, one arriving in 1710, the other in 1751 with contemporary deaths in 1774 in Tulpehocken and 1770 in Longswamp respectively. Please share any info you have of a third George in Berks County. The Johannes George, widower I estimate to have been born soon after settling the farm in Tulpehocken (by Bernville) between 1730-1732.

There may be no records. Johannes George, son of George who arrived in 1710, inherited the family farm east of Bernsville. The farm passed on to John Sr., Jr., then Johnathon D., who sold it to the Yoder family in 1896. Adam, the younger brother of Johannes George received 130 acres at E. Buffalo Twp. from the Pennsylvania govt. for his participation in the Revolutionary war. William, born circa 1776, by a biology I read approx a year ago & I'll find it to send you, arrived to Dauphin county, working as a carpenter and fence builder, aned later moved to Lebanon County before he married Elisabeth Miller in Stouchsberg,Berks. Family lore left my father claiming that he was the 6th generation carpenter. More family lore claimed that we are descendants of a George Christ. I only recently found the proof of Johannes George existing as the son of George, and the father of John George, who by lack of legend or documents appears to have died young.

I found an Anna Maria, Daughter of George. Greenwich twp. closer to Longswamp twp. than to my ancesters at Bernville, Penn & Tulpehocken twps. Berks county birth and baptismal record states. born about 1775, baptised on 2/5/1775 at Blue Mt. Church. 'Longswamp George' arrived at Philadelphia on 16 September 1751 on the HMS Edinburgh along with several of my mother's ancesters, the MATTERs from Rotterdam- originating from Altdorf, Alsace, France. Anna Marie may be his daughter as decendants of 'Tulpehocken George' were born to Johannes George at 1775, T-George's son.
