Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, Dec. 21, 1939, page 8:
ULYSSES GRANT CHRIST
Ulysses Grant Christ, son of Rev. Levi and Mary Christ, was born April 3, 1870 at Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, and after one year of illness departed this life at his home in Minneapolis, Kansas, December 15, 1939, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 12 days.
In 1877 at the age of 7 years he came with his parents to Kansas where they homesteaded on a farm near Lamar, Kansas. It was there that he spent the greater part of his life, except for a short time spent in Oklahoma during his twenties, where he took a claim.
On April 27, 1905 he married Myrtle D. Pattison. At that time he resided on a farm adjoining his father's homestead which he also farmed for several years. To this union were born seven children, Claretta, Benjamin and Dale Dean of the home, also Mrs. Stella Hunt, Mrs. Lillian Downend, Mrs. Vivian Longbine and Mrs. Della Walker all of Salina, Kansas.
In November 1932 he moved with his family to the vicinity of Minneapolis, Kansas, and spent the last three years of his life in Minneapolis.
He was a quiet, home-loving man, always sacrificing to the needs of his family. He was a patient sufferer, showing a great determination to hold on to life. He was cheerful to the last.
Besides his wife and children he leaves six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Guhl of Nekoma, Kansas, Mrs. Mary Fyfe of Fredonia, Kansas, and Mrs. Sylvia Schlotz of Marion, Kansas; also one brother Glen Christ of Salina, Kansas and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church in charge of Rev. Fred Blanding with burial in Highland cemetery.

Kelly,
I believe I am related to the same Christ family that you are. My gg grandfather was Ernest Konrad Christ, born in Bavaria, Germany in 1848. He came here in 1868 and settled in New Britian, CT. He had a child named Ernest Christ who was involved in politics in the Hartford area.
Ernest Christ's (the son) maternal grandfather worked at Stanely works in CT.
If you think this might be the same family, let me know. I have a bit more information on this family, and would love to learn more.
