John W. Martin, 67, rural Towanda, died suddenly at his home yesterday afternoon.
He was born April 2, 1888 at Miltonvale, Kas., and was married to Florence Crist on March 12, 1922 at Delphos, Kas.
Mr. Martin was a retired rock quarry employee. He moved to El Dorado in 1929 from Miltonvale and had lived at the Towanda address only a short time.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Alvin, 224 North Alleghany, and Marshall, Towanda; two daughters, Mrs. Lola Petty, Wichita, and Mrs. Carol (unreadable), Ponca City, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Kirby Funeral Home. Dr. O. Ray Cook will officiate and burial will be in (unreadable) Lawns cemetery.
(The quality of the print was very poor in this newspaper copy. The left edge was blurry as if a fold had been there prior to filming the paper. Also, I have been unable to find an obit for Florence. I have a death date of Dec. 16, 1987, but no location.)
