Markus, I'm looking for the immigration of my greatgreatgrandfathger. He was supposed to have been born in 1841 and immigrated from Switzerland.
He married Alive Miller, b. 1851 in Ohio. I don't know when they married. They had four children, one of which was my greatgrandfather, John Christ, b. 1871 in Burlington, Iowa.
He would have to have immigrated before 1871. He may have even come as a child with his parents. I was told the Christ family was German and was surprised to hear Joseph Martin was from Switzerland. I have read some of your stuff and realize they could have been from anywhere and could have been identified with the ship they were on.
I don't have this family traced back very far and would appreciate any help. Thank you.

HelloJoyce, I tried to send a message last year but you had apparently changed your address. Please excuse the jumbled input .-- My stp grt gfthr was Sebastian A. Zauner. His father also was Sebastian Zauner. Seb. Sr. INTENT filed in Kenosha, Wi. in 1866. Part of family was still in Appleton area in 1920's. Seb. Jr's
mother was Johanna Smith(Schmidt?). I have copies of both INTENT papers. Sadly no city of origin available but Bavaria listed as country. Sisters known were Rosina and Maria. I have not thoroughly searched the Wisconsin Censuses yet but thought I'd throw a query out and see if anyone recognizes either Sebastian. Thanks!
Hello list members,
I just enrolled and would like to start off with a question:
In search for my ancestors, I am looking for members of the CHRISTALLE-family (in former times sometimes spelled CHRISTALLÉ, KRISTALLE or KRYSTALL). They used to live in the Breslau area (Schlesien, today Poland) as well as in Lower Saxony (Hannover, Hildesheim, Hameln...).
I already found some CHRISTALLE in Schlesien but I am still missing more information before 1800 to link them all together.
Originally the CHRISTALLE are told to derive from the French Hugenots, who emigrated in the 16th century from France.
Has anyone come across other CHRISTALLE, CHRIST or does anyone know more about the above mentioned spellings ?
Any hint is highly appreciated, since I only have been able to find some traces in Germany, France and Poland.
Best regards,
Marco H. Christalle

My Christ line also has a John Christ from Switzerland. We believe his wofe was
Susanna Rohr and that he was born about 1810. Son Jacob was born about 1840 and
came to America in the 1850s.

Joseph Martin Christ is my greatgreatgrandfather. John Christ, his son is my greatgrandfather. I was told that Alice Miller was born in 1851 in Ohio. I don't have any more on her and Joseph other than he was born in 1841 and immigrated from Switzerland. I appreciate the info on Joseph William Christ.
How many children did he have and who did he marry. Your news that there was also a sister Kate was new information also. It's great to be able to add on in bits and pieces. This is the first break in the Christ line I've had in some time.

Joseph Martin Christ was my great grandfather. His son Joseph William Christ was my grandfather. My grandfather was born 03/04/1877 and died on 12/30/1963. His father Joseph Martin came from Switzerland but I do not know when or have his birthdate. I know that he went to Iowa and married Alice Miller (she was from Burlington, Iowa). I know that the Christ's are buried at Fairview Cemetery on Denmark Rd in Ft. Madison, Iowa. My grandfather, Joseph William had a sister Kate (who married a Judd) and he had two other brothers John and Theodore. I haven't had much time to research much farther than what I have. Hope this information may help in some way.

I'm looking for the same information as asked previously. It is for my greatgreatgrandfather, Joseph Martin Christ, born 1841, and reported to be from Switzerland. He married Alice Miller, born 1851 in Ohio and had four children that I know of. Can you provide any immigration information?

Thank you so much, Sharon, for your information. You have no idea of its value to me. My uncles in Des Moines will not correspond with me so this is great. I have emailed you with what other information I have.
