Hi I was wondering if you happened to know if any other sides of your Chouinard family came to NJ, you mentioned they went to Trenton in the 1850's. My Chouinard line came to Patterson, NJ around 1870. The father being a Francois Chouinard born in 1821 in French Canada. I haven't been able to track him or his wife Cynthia Gerard (father Joseph Gerard) back to Canada. And I was hoping he might have some relationship to your Chouinards who were bound to NJ a decade or 2 earlier.
Thanks

I'm looking for a Chouinard family in NJ as well, there's really only 1 in Jersey around Patterson Francois and Cynthia Gerard Chouinard/Swenord in the 1880s. I realize that's not the decade or even century you're interested in but they did have a number of children who seemed to remain in the area, looking into their descendants might help. There is also a Chouinard family association in Canada and they have a book tracing the genealogy down the different lines you might try there.
Best of luck
