Hello All,
I have been trying to do a time line for the early Choate*s who connect to Christopher of Maryland.
I was wondering if anyone can clarify who these men are who are listed in North Carolina in 1790?
Saybort Shoat in Burke County? I think this is the s/o Christopher and Flora Hawkins Choate as Christi, Christi Jr., Austin and my Moses are also living in Burke County.
but where do these men fit in?
Seybert Choate and Seyborn Choate Jr. in Wilkes County? Even though the given names are spelled differently, I am asuming they are father and son?
Also Jacob Shoat who was bonded to Elizabeth Barrier in Stokes County, North Carolina on October 23, 1772. The Bondsman was Charles Barrier and the witness was Ad Osborn?

Hi Berlene
I got the information from my aunts' book "Barefoot-Withrow" and they
include a bunch of Choates because of the connection. I couldn't find
anything on a Dorinda Jane. I couldn't find her in a census prior to
1880 either. Was she in Texas or Arkansas? I'd bet there's a
connection there somewhere.
I've got a webpage although I've not updated it in a long time now.
Perhaps it might help with trying to keep them straight. I know I can't
do it alone without some kind of help *L*

As to the James Spurlock. I've not done any real research on the
Spurlocks. But I wouldn't doubt that there is some kind of connection
going on.

Sorry I can't be more helpful *S*

Thanks Barbara...boy I thought my line of Choates was hard to figure out <:-))
I am going to have to read your info many times before I have it straight in my head.
Two questions though: Any thoughts on Dorinda Jane Choate?
and
My line of Choate*s connect with the Fort and Titsworths. Arthur Fort's daughter, Mourning Norma Fort, married a James Spurlock...do you think there is a connection with the Thomas Kyle Choate line?

Hi List,
Does anyone have any information on J. D. and Frank M. Choat who are living in Beat 5, Bell County, Texas in 1860? Living a few homes away is John and Nancy Barefoot.
I believe that J.D. is John Dillon Choate and Frank M. is Frances Marion Choate who are probably cousins?
I am trying to find out who Dorinda Jane Choate connects to. She states that she was born in Texas about 1850 but on all the census records she states she doesn't know where her parents were born. The story goes that Dorinda Jane was orphaned at an early age.
She married James Westbrook in Arkansas abt. 1870. Their daughter, Frances Adeline, was the 2nd wife of Thomas Jefferson Townsend. They married in 1885 in Pike County, Arkansas.
Thomas Jefferson was 1st married to Nancy Cordelia Props/Proops and they had two daughters; Laura E. and Dora Clementine Townsend.
Dora Clementine married Jasper Dillon Choate who was the s/o John Dillon Choate and Nancy Ann Spurlock.
Can anyone help with who Dorinda Jane Choate Westbrook's folks were? With a surname of Choate and being married in Arkansas, she has to connect to someone in the southern Choate line.
Any type of brainstorming is appreciated.

Does anyone know of a Harold Choate that had one arm? Don't' know if he
literally did not have one or if he was injured in a war or something?
