Jim,
Upon further inspection my records are as follows concerning birth date of
Margaret Choat Vaughn, dau of Ezekiel Choat and Margaret McFatridge:
Cemetery marker reads: b. May 8, 1846 d. Feb. 2, 1922 age 67 yr 6 mo 14
days. (My calculations say that this makes birth date August 8, 1846.)
Marriage records read: date of marriage Sept 25, 1879 Margaret age 37 and
James age 23. This would make her birth sometime in 1842
William Lawrence who has spent years researching Choates in So. Illl gives
birth date as 1841.
Guess I need to work on this one a little more, huh?

I have to mention this site. For those of you with Texas ancestors,
you might find something here. It's called "Southwestern Classics

digitized and put on the web. The two non-fiction books are:

You can profit from junk e-mail. If your computer is sitting idle while you're at work or play...you're crazy!
You could be earning money while you're asleep, at work or out having fun. You can make incredible
money sending your own mass e-mails. If you own your own business or have a product or idea to sell ,
then you probably know that all advertising works..it's just a question of whether it's cost effective or not.
What could be more cost effective than a ZERO cost of adverising? If you sent out 500,000 e-mails which
would take you only a few minutes to set your computer up to do and you only recieved one half of one
percent response..that would be 2500 people responding to your ad. And the cost to do it was NOTHING.
Junk e-mail is here to stay, so wouldn't it be nice to laugh every time you receive a piece of junk e-mail from
someone because you know for every one you receive, you're sending out hundreds of thousands. If
your computer is sitting idle while you're at work or play...you're crazy! You could be earning money while
you're asleep, at work or out having fun. It's not like you have to sit there and watch it run!
So why isn't every one doing it? Well your local internet service provider spent lots of money installing
filtering equipment to keep out this so-called junk e-mail and, in fact, for years there's been sort of a fun
little war going on between the junk e-mail software writers and the internet serrvice provider filter
software writers to see who could out-smart who.The end result is that sending mass e-mails legally has
become an art . But it's really all about knowing the secrets and having the right software.
AVATAR Publishing is offering you the type of expertise and support that would take you years to
learn. We know all the secrets (obviously or you wouldn't be reading this would you?) and we have the
software to deliver to most of the internet service providers. So here's the offer... AVATAR is offering you
a mass e-mail starter kit comlete with step by step instructions on how to get started sending out mass e-
mails...a current explanation of what's legal and not legal...how to extract e-mail addresses from the
internet ...how to get targeted e-mail addresses...a FREE trial version of the most effective mass e-mail
software program ever developed...a list of bulk e-mail friendly internet service providers....a complete
explanation of the secrets of how to legally get your mail through the filtering and why it works....and
finally a real telephone number so you can have technical support and keep updated on new developments
in the mass e-mail community. The total cost of this kit is only $29.
If you would like to stop having your computer sit idle while you're at work or asleep and start having it
make money for you .....

Hi Dodie: I am not familiar with your Emily. A number of Choate lines are
reputed to have Native American blood. Proving it is quite another matter,
however. I am going to forward your query on to the Choat discussion group
on the Roots Web and perhaps someone can provide an answer. (The address by
the way is Choate-L(a)rootsweb.com should you wish to subscribe and I
recommend it.)

Subject: Emily Elberta Choate
Date: Friday, August 07, 1998 12:30AM
My grandmother was Emily Elberta Choat, born 1865 in TN or NC. She died
when my father, her last child was 11. He remembered little and knew
little because he left KY, where she died, shortly after her death. He
said she was full or half Native American. Could my Emily be a child of
the Emily Adair(Choate)siblings? I thought a brother may have named a
child after her. I know nothing else about her except she married in
1885 in Trigg Co, KY. Thank you, Dodie
Just to clarify some information that I have been seeing lately.
Yes Irene is still publishing the newsletter, she is now living in TN. If
anyone needs her current address let me know. There is plans for a 3rd
book. Irene has told me that she is not publishing it, but has given alot
of her research over to the man that is writing, his name escapes me at the
moment, but I have the information from Irene about it. The third book,
from what I was told, will once again deal mainly with the TN CHOATE lines.
I also seem to remember something about the Illinois or Oklahoma lines,
can't remember which, but once again I have the information packed away from
Irene.
I publish a newsletter dealing with TX CHOATE lines. 4 times a year. Am
also gathering family histories and documented information on TX lines as
well to publish in a book. Hopefully ready to print by Spring.
Hope this helps someone out.

Many thanks to all of you for the quick response on Irene Choate
Williams address.
My earliest Choate is David (178?-1882) and wife Judith Sevier. Both are
believed to be buried in Limestone Co, TX. Their first children were
born in TN. I am descended from their daughter Sina (1816-1900) the wife
of John R. Lynch.
Is there a connection with this Choate family and the Choctaw tribe? A
family tradition says yes.

John,
I also have the 2 books and as of 6 months ago she was not writing another.
She was still doing the newsletter twice a year and I am expecting one
about Sept. Her research pretty much stopped in Tennessee. Here is her new
address

Several years ago I obtained 2 books *Choates of the South, Descendants
of Christopher Choate of Maryland* Volumes 1 & 2. They were written by
Irene Choate Williams (Mrs. E.J.) of Destin FL. There was also a
newsletter.
Anyone know if Mrs. Williams is still publishing her findings?
John Yates
Hi - I somehow doubt this as my aunts were the one who originally bought
the books, and I'm sure if there had been sequels they would have bought
them. That is prior to their death - (in the early 90s). If there are
sequels, I'd be interested too.
John. Where are your Choates? An awkward question. It might be easier
if you checked out my Choates on my website:
