Hi All,
I am a descendant of Captain James and have the line traced.
Check Pages of "Descendants.... 94-109 and 208 -209. I
descend through his son, Amos.
Notice the landgrant signed in 1812 by President Madison on
page 209. Amos was well known in his own right. There are
some errors ... like my grandfather's and my father's name
that I would like to correct. I will correspond with anyone
interested in this line.

Hi Carolyn:
We corresponded about Charles Chitwood/Chatwood possibly being Caroline's father several years ago.
You have obviously done some additional research which I very much appreciate. Thanks for sharing all this information with me.
Now if we can just find Charles Chitwood's parents we will have a "complete line".
I don't have my notes at hand right now but I believe that I discovered that Robert Martin Chitwood (possibly Caroline's brother) died during the War Between The States.
I will go to the websites you referenced in your note to see the additional documentation on Charles and his family.
Today is my birthday and this is a wonderful "present" to include in my family history data.
Best Regards,
Bill

Hey Bill--my line goes through CPT James' brother Richard Chitwood. I have lots of information on this line and some on James. I am sure Carolyn Fairall, the premiere Chitwood researcher will follow up as soon as she sees your post.
I do have "The Descendants of Matthias Chitwood" pub 1986. This book has a child Alpha Caroline Chitwood b GA 1840 as the 4th child of John Jubilee Chitwood and Mary Ann Norris Chitwood. The book says she married William Puckett in 1865. There is no further information in the book. I am not saying this info is gospel but you might go from here as a starting place.
In addition I would search this forum and you will probably see where Carolyn has already posted census info and specific info if the question has been asked before.
If you have access to online databases the family is reported in Habersham County GA 1840-1870. These citations relate to John Jubilee;he died in 1873.
Let me know if you need other Chitwood info--I have little on CPT James that you have probably but might be able to fill in some holes.
If you are really into the family I recommend the book; I think there are some copies left.

John Jubilee CHITWOOD reportedly had as his first child a daughter named Alpha Caroline CHITWOOD. I am trying to prove/disprove if this woman married Ephriam L. MORROW b. Oct 1822 in GA (Habersham County I believel.)
Any help in proving/disproving this theory would be greatly appreciated. Ephriam L. MORROW and Caroline CHITWOOD are my paternal 2 X great grandparents. They raised their family in Randolph Co., AL circa 1850-1875 then removed to Alcorn/Prentiss Cos., MS where they died circa 1910.
