I am trying to verify the father of Lynn Chitwood Boone. She grew up in Alabama and moved to Maryland when she married Charles Wyatt Boone. I know she has one brother Carey Chitwood. I think her father may be John H Chitwood. Does anyone have any information?

Hi, I thought I had posted this reply, before but, do not see it in the thread. So, will post again..
It is pretty sure that almost all of the Chitwoods in the U.S. (especially if they were here, prior to 1750) all came from Matthias.
There were a few Chitwoods in New Jersey and Canada but, I don't know if anyone has ever placed them, in the Matthias pedigree or not.
So, getting the DNA from descendants of Matthias would seem to be useful only, as to which son/grandson, etc. of his you are descended from?
What I want to see is a DNA test from someone in the UK and compare them to our branch. This is the only way we will ever find the ancestry of Matthias.
I have some ideas but, will keep them to myself, since anyone I have suggested, in the past, has immediately become "fact" on somebody's web page. :-P

My grandmother Ina Dial was born around 1909 in Mississippi and her parents were John Gilchrist and Annalee Tittle. Do you have any information about the Tittle family that would help me and if so please contact me. Thank you for the help, Rhonda Dial at rhonda.dial(a)yahoo.com

I have just finished rereading your message and am especially interested in Sarah (Sally) Cowan, b. 2/27/1778, and married to Pleasant Chitwood, b.5/9/1775 as they are my fifth great grandparents. Pleasant to James Chitwood, b.1798/TN..James to Noah Chitwood, b.1821/TN..Noah Chitwood to my maternal grandfather, George H. Chitwood, b.1853-1861/Indiana.George's daughter, my mother, Essie M. Chitwood, b.1908/MO married my father, Curtis R. Cowan in
1925/MO.
I received a query re: a Henderson Chitwood who's grandmother was said to be Sarah Cowan Chitwod. The query, a MO. descendant of Henderson Chitwood said that Henderson & my great grandfather, Richard Dickey Cowan (Jr) b. 1836/MO. served in the same command & later were elected officials in adjoining counties.
Do you have any info on Sarah (Sally) Cowan Chitwood's line or any other suggestions for me as I attempt to put this puzzle together?
Thank you.
Barbara Cowan Olendorf
