Could it possibly be referring to Mary's mother: Mary (Cartwright) Key?

Hi--this is a cross posting I just made to the Key Family forum. Has
anyone seen this publication [Allen County Lines]; if I can get it
through PERSI I will but it takes a couple of months.
Hi Y'all
While looking for "Chitwood" information in google books I picked up the
info below. I do not think I believe it but thought I would post it.
This particular source is a periodical and not available full text as
many of their books are. There was only the snippet:
"My mother was Ruth Chitwood, a descendant of Matthias Chitwood who WAS
BOUND OUT TO MARY KEY, a relative of Francis Scott Key in early
Northumberland County, Virginia. Among Matthias' descendants, my
forbears we fount out that this was TRUE, j ust as Mom thought."
The caps are mine, of course but she seems to indicate that a
verification had been found of this fact. The info was in:
Allen County Lines vol 3, #2 Dec 1978 p. 23.
published by the Allen County Genealogical Society [Indiana]
I am going to check PERSI and see if they index this periodical; they
probably do since the Allen County Library is the same Allen County as
above.
If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it--Mary Key was
supposedly the wife of Matthias Chitwood.
The following is from my database--I do not view it as set in concrete:
Burke's American Families with British Ancestry: the lineages of 1,600
families of British origin now resident in the USA. Baltimore,
Genealogical Publishing, 1975:

Powhatan County VA about 1743. He married Mary Key [before 1725] and
died 1755."

Again, I am not posting this as gospel!
Any help is appreciated.
