Hello,
DNA testing has been very enlightening for another branch of my family. I was wondering whether any CHITWOOD males have participated in a DNA project? My grandfather was the last male in my line - next generation was all daughters. There may be 2nd, 3rd cousins, etc that are male Chitwoods but we do not know them.
Here is our descendecy:
Matthias Chitwood/Chetwood
John Sr Cheatwood
William Cheatwood
Joel Chitwood
Randolph Chitwood
Henry Clay Chitwood
Joel "Joseph" Howard Chitwood
Randolph Chitwood

Hi,
It is pretty sure that almost all of the Chitwoods in the U.S.
(especially if they were here, prior to 1750) all came from Matthias.
There were a few Chitwoods in New Jersey and Canada but, I don't know if
anyone has ever placed them, in the Matthias pedigree or not.
So, getting the DNA from descendants of Matthias would seem to be useful
only, as to which son/grandson, etc. of his you are descended from?
What I want to see is a DNA test from someone in the UK and compare them
to our branch. This is the only way we will ever find the ancestry of
Matthias.
I have some ideas but, will keep them to myself, since anyone I have
suggested, in the past, has immediately become "fact" on somebody's web
page. :-P
