Here's a little anecdote about our John L Chitwood in the photo [I think
it is he, anyway]. From the Indianapolis Star Friday 9 Jul 1915:
[paraphrased]
"The Improvement Simply Wonderful" "John L Chitwood had been laid up
for six months with enlargement of the liver and stomach trouble"
This is an advertisement for "Plant Juice" John L Chitwood gave a
signed statement as to the efficacy of the product. I will spare you
the graphic details of his problems and his miraculous recovery.
This John L Chitwood gave his address as 329 Virginia Avenue,
Indianapolis, IN.
------------
I could not read the street addresses on the census entries for John
Chitwood so cannot directly tie him to the 1910 and 1920 census entries
for John Chitwood.
Maybe he relapsed....

Hmmm. In that same Family David & Sarah their son Emmanuel also had a son
named John Lee born 1859 IN. I have not research this line yet so I do not
know how accurate this is.

Definitely an "interesting" picture, and I'd love to know the story behind
it. And which John L it is. I, too, assumed that KKK was a more southern
thing. Learn something new every day, huh.
