Hi Judith, I already got that information from you and got the book from Brenda Chitwood. I was replying to a person who was asking questions about my pictures of the Chitwood family. I have a ton of photos with no names or dates on the back, was looking for someone who perhaps could ID them. I do know some of them on sight, but there some wonderful pictures I have no idea about. One with a child riding an Ostrich, some on horse back or driving wagons and many in formal settings with many people in the picture, family reunions I suspect from the early part of the 1900's and late 1800's. Sometimes people, including me, get confused about the request. Barb

I have information for purchasing the "Descendants of Matthias Chitwood" by IO Chitwood. As far as I know there are copies left; the son of the compiler has asked that his name and address not be printed online. Contact me privately at jknight(a)boone.net and I will provide further info.
It is a great book, especially for descendants of Capt James and Richard Chitwood--great deal of info. The other children are also well represented. Google "tombaugh" and that should lead you to a full-text copy of one of the other Chitwood books.

There are 2 or 3 books about the Chitwood/Cheatwood family with pictures, copies of death and marriage certificates etc. that traces the line all the way back to Mathis. I have seen these books at the Anniston Public Library in the Alabama Room and also at the Gadsden Public Library. I can't recall the author, elieve her to be Margaret Perry, but I believe she recently passed and the books are no longer for sale. My Cheatwood was Tyne, daughter of Ephraim Lynchlock Cheatwood and Jahndijah Ann (Deja) Parker. Ephraim was sometimes call Doc? don't know why. The first book has a lot of misinformation that was corrected in the later book. I have additional information not found in either book.
The gentleman who works at the Anniston Library is very knowledgeable and found these books easily for me. Hope this helps

In looking at WorldConnect sites, I notice that none (or none that I saw) of the family trees show children for John A. Chitwood (son of Joel Chitwood and Susannah Corn) and Tennessee (Clements) Chitwood. I'm not following the Chitwood family as a whole, or this family in particular, but I thought it curious that the family trees don't show children in light of the following:
J.A. Chitwood household, 1870 U.S. census, Johnson County, Texas, population schedule, beat 1, Cleburne post office, page 575 (stamped), sheet 25 (handwritten), dwelling 302, family 303; National Archives micropublication M593, roll 1593.
Chitwood, J.A., 37, m., Tennessee
Tennisee, 31, f., Mississippi
Jno. W., 13, m., Mississippi
Tennisee A., 10, f., Texas
Clemons, F., 63, f., Kentucky
Noah, R., 22, m., (farmer) Mississippi
F. Clemons is obviously Clements, mother-in-law of J.A. It is probably a son of F. Clements, J.B. Clemons, who is listed in dwelling 303/family 304 with his family. Further down the page is possibly another son, 29 year old M.F. Clemon with his family.
