Has anyone seen this book? I am interested in buying it if the
information in here on James Chitwood and the other men who were hung in
October 1780 is not excerpted from Draper. We have that in the IO
Chitwood book. I was not familiar with this but it was originally
published in 1924; since no one associated with the Chitwoods has
mentioned it, it may be exactly as the title states--about the
Americans. Thanks, judy arnn-knight

Hannah Chitwood Ross (m.Alfred Ross) is my 3rd great grand mother. My information shows her as the daughter of William Daniel ? Chitwood, son of James Chitwood and Martha White. Her daughter Manerva Jane Ross married James Granville Stephens. Their daughter Arminda married my great grandfather Hense (E.H.) Sharp. I know they lived in Scott Co., TN, possibly Oneida, Winfield or both. Do any of you from that area have any information on the Sharp family? I have found a number of Sharps in Scott Co. on old census records, but can find no mention of Hense until he shows up on the census married to Arminda. I did find a boy named Henderson on the 1880 census with his mother Martha Sharp, who had married David Mixson, but can find no earlier records on her either. I'm banging my head up against this wall and hope someone may have some information for me. Thanks.

Sorry Ginny.....The Mich. relatives lived in Ludington and were the children of Joels daughter Charity. Also, I have sent the few photos I had to them. We did visit someone in Detroit on the same trip to Ludington, but I just can't remember what their names were.

Hi,
I dont come in scrolling through the boards very often, I work way to much for that, But you mentioned photos taken in the 50's of the chitwood family in Michigan, Since im from here, and only knew of one Aunt living here at all I would be very interested to hear about the photos. My Aunt Toots <Ethel i think was her given name> Lived in the greater Detroit area for years, before my Dad came up visiting in the mid to late 60's met my Mom and got married.
What info could you give me about the photos? Aunt Toots married Fred Harvey
thanks
Ginny
I have run into a puzzle that maybe someone can help me with. My 5G-grandmother was Frances Ann Chitwood, born in abt 1760 in KY or VA, dies 1803 in Warren Co., KY. I have seen in one place while searching that her father was Capt. James Chitwood. However, when I do research on him, I haven't really seen her as a daughter.
I'm pretty sure she's from the same family if she's not a daughter. Has anyone run across this woman's name during this time period, and if so, how she fits into the Chitwood family; i.e. her parents, etc.? Frances Ann Chitwood married William Hays, and from there I have the descendants down pretty solid.
I'd appreciate anyone's help.
