James Chitwood, born 1832 and John Chitwood, born 1840, sons of Nelson
Chitwood. The 1850 Census, Desoto, county, MS has these boys in the
household of their grandfather, Lazarus Chitwood.
I have been told these boys went to Texas.
I would like to hear from descendants of James and John.

My packing is coming along - slowly. Move on the 28th of July and then
have to be in a hotel for a month - at least they have a data port for
my computer so can go on line. Would hate to go through withdrawal!
Have a great day - think sunny Arizona is suppose to hit 107 today - was

Hi,
My gggrandmother was Louisa Jane Chitwood m to James Robert Jameson. They lived in Grant County, Ky. Louisa is granddaughter to Mathias Chitwood. Am looking for any bio or information on Louisa and the Jameson's of kentucky. All I have is a birth date, but would like to hear of the family. I did find a Chitwood history, but Louisa and her father Creed C. Chitwood is not mentioned. Most of the Chitwoods I have found are from Virginia but have not confirmed as yet. Looking forward to a reply and will be happy to exchange information of the descendants of Louisa.

I am researching the Chitwood family.
My ancestor is Lucy Chitwood m Meshach Griffith. She was the daughter of John Chitwood and wife Rhoda ?
Any help is appreciated. Especially to Rhoda's maiden name.

Julie-I am forwarding this as a resource for Chitwoods and other VA/WV
families, not just because I posted it. Thought it might be of interest
to your queue. Darryl Lytton who runs this site through rootsweb takes
GEDCOM, strips out irrelevant stuff [I sent him a privatized file but
there was still trash] and reposts them at his site.
It is a different way of looking at families from the normal files.
Happy 4th [late]

Subject: Lillie Chitwood???

Hello Julie --
Are you in any way related to Lillie Chitwood?
I purchased a friendship quilt at eBay. The seller tells me she
purchased the quilt at an auction in Warren in Marion County, MO. The
seller said the quilt is from the thirties. I think it might be more
recent than that.
One of the signatures on the quilt is Lillie Chitwood. When I visited
the Marion County genweb page I found your name and email, so I thought
you might be related to Lillie.
It is my mission to try to identify all of the contributors to the quilt
-- and the reason the quilt was created -- so that this information can
be kept with the quilt.
I know this is crazy, but it gives me a break from my own genealogy
brick walls. I'm currently working on another friendship quilt I
purchased at the first of this year and I have identified and have
photos of most of the contributors to the quilt. I still haven't found
the reason the quilt was assembled, but I'm eternally optimistic.
I hope you can help me with Lillie.
Regards,
Phyllis Merryman Cloyd in NJ
.
