Answer to Question 1, possibly in the following:
"Virginia's Eastern Shore, A History of Northampton and Accomack Counties",
Vol 2, by Ralph T. Whitelaw, 1968, p. 1136:
(preceding page would have more information, as this one begins in middle of
description .):
"...There is no cross hall. In the parlor the mantel has one row of
fretwork under the shelf, and a sunburst on a panel in the center of the
face. On each side of the fireplace are upper and lower cupboards with
double doors, and there is a horizontal board wainscoting around the room.
The dining room has a similar wainscoting, a plain mantel, and one
double-door cupboard to the left of the fireplace. On the second floor, the
base board is painted to simulate marble.
There is no record of the death of the patentee Richard Bundick, but an
undisposed parcel of 200 acres was found in the possession of a son Richard,
Jr. It was north of his sister's part, and on the south side of old Arcadia
Creek. 1731 Bundick left his home plantation to his son George, who in 1764
left to his son John A. Bundick. 1784 He (wife Bridgett) left to his son
Geo4rge, and in 1817 he and wife Milly sold to Thomas Cropper; two years
later he and his wife Elizabeth sold to George P. Bagwell. 1826 He left to
his daughter Margaret R., who married Henry F. Riley, and in 1830 Dr. Thomas
P. Bagwell, as heir to his sister margaret Riley, with his wife Sally H.,
exchanged with Jacob Warner for land elsewhere. 1836 Warner left to his
daughter Elizabeth, who married Gillet F. Watson, and in 1857 they sold to
William T. Parkes. After the death of Parkes, the land was divided in 1899
between a son of the same name, and a daughter Willie A., the wife of John
T. White. The Whites received the house and 67 acres, and after their
deaths, the title passed to a son John T. White, Jr., and his sister MARY
E., the wife of DR. WILLIAM T. CHITWOOD..."

Mr. Chitwood:
I noticed your name on Old Frederick Co., VA listserv, requesting to
Unsubscribe.
There are two questions I have.
1. Do you have a connection to the Chitwood Plantation East of Williamsburg?
2. Are you aware of any related families known as Gray, or Cook or Tull?
I appreciate that you are going on vacation; however, could not pass up the
opportunity to e-mail you. I hope you are willing to respond after your
return.
Sincerely,
Jill Holcroft Keller

Julie--I am so lazy and do not have a queue of Chitwoods so I am sending
this to you. Feel free to forward it. I did not see it the first time
if, indeed it did make the Campbell County list.

from TNCAMPEL-L(a)rootsweb.com
Hello all, I am sending this information out to several gen web lists to
bring attention to the
following undertaking. I sent this notice to several lists on 1-31-01. I
have since found out
that it may have not have gotten to all that I had intended it to. The
deadline for submissions
have been extended.
I have spoken to Ms. Trulene Nash, Publications Chairman for the
Campbell County Historical
Society newsletter, and received her encouragement and permission to
print the following
information. Which first appeared in the Historical Society's newsletter
"The Campbell County
Countian"
-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Campbell County Tennessee Family History Book.
Anyone can participate!
Our Book Committee decided to use a narrative form of writing
about our families (not charts and tabular material) but facts and
stories in
a flowing mid narrative form. A short history of approximately 500 words
(it can be less), type-written, double-spaced, on 81/2 X 11 inches) on
white bond At the end of
the articles we want the name and address of the submitter.
Begin with the earliest ancestor that you have knowledge of; telling
where they came from and
how, where and when they settled in Campbell County Tennessee. Were they
married before coming
here, if so where and when.
How many children, names, dates of birth/death, where they attended
school, occupation, what
churches were attended, were there any Veterans in the family? if they
left Campbell County
where did they go and why? Any interesting stories you know about them,
please relate. Where
are they buried - cemetery - dates of death.
1. If you presently live in Campbell County.
2. If you are a former resident of Campbell County.
3. If you have "roots" in Campbell County.
4. If you have several direct lines from, or in, Campbell County you can
submit them.
We know some counties who have published such a book, after which many
families did not submit,
and were sorry they had not participated, and asked if they would
publish another book so they
could get their families included therein. Don't let that happen to you.
Please think this
proposition over and let us know by May 1 2001, if you are willing to
join us in this venture.
(Deadline has been extended).
If we do not get enough interest to proceed we would like to request
that those of you who
would , send us a record of your family lines so that we could place
them in our Genealogical
Library to share with other people who are researching.
Below is a sample that would be helpful for you who are interested in
helping us on this
project. We await your response.
Sincerely, Alice W. COKER, Temporary Chairman of the Book Committee
103 S. 6th Street, Lafollette, Tennessee

Fountain and Elizabeth (Rogers) Maupin
Note; This article is a sample of how the articles for the Campbell
County Family History Book
should be written:
Fountain MAUPIN, a son of Thomas and Catherine (WHITE) MAUPIN, was born
11 July 1806 in
Albemarle County, Virginia, and died 30 December 1868 in Claiborne
County, Tennessee. Fountain
is a great-great-grandson of Gabriel and Marie (HERSENT) MAUPIN, who
immigrated with some of
their children from Europe to Virginia in 1700.
Fountain MAUPIN moved from Virginia to Campbell County, Tennessee in the
early 1830s, settling,
it is believed, in the Fincastle area where his older brother Overton
MAUPIN, and his uncle,
Amos MAUPIN, had already settled. Fountain married on 19 February 1835
in Claiborne County,
Tennessee to Elizabeth ROGERS by the Rev. William ROGERS. Elizabeth
ROGERS, a daughter of Maj.
David and Mary "Polly"(LEWIS) ROGERS, was born 3 October l8l7 in
Claiborne County, Tennessee
and died 30 September 1880 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. Elizabeth was
the only daughter in a
family of twelve children. Her eleven brothers were said to be either
lawyers or doctors.
Fountain moved his family to Speedwell in Claiborne County, Tennessee in
the early 1840s. It
was there that they built a two story brick home. It is said that the
slaves, believed to be
the ROGERS' slaves, made the bricks on the MAUPIN land to build the
house. It was here that the
MAUPIN family lived, and Fountain and Elizabeth died!
. The house is still standing in Speedwell. Fountain and Elizabeth were
buried in the
Maupin-Dyer Cemetery on a hill overlooking their home in Speedwell,
Claiborne County,
Tennessee.
Fountain and Elizabeth were the parents of 8 children:
1.. John Thomas MAUPIN b. 1837-d. 1915 md Hester Virginia HUTSELL
