17 Mar 1819 - "This deed by and between SETH CHITWOOD of the Township
of St. Ferdinand in the County of St. Louis and Territory of Missouri of
the one part and Lewis Bissell of the same place of the other partWitnesseth
that the said Seth Chitwood for and in consideration of sum of three thousand
two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid and secured to be paid
by the said Lewis Bissell at and before delivery hereof the receipt whereof
the said Seth Chitwood doth hereby confers and acknowledge hath granted
gargained & sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
said Lewis Bissell and to his heirs and assigns forever all of the following
tract of land to wit beginning at a white oak tree the original South West
corner of said tract of land as it was surveyed and granted to the said
Seth Chitwood by the Spanish authorities thence running north twenty arpents
or french acres to a stak in the edge of the (slash?) which is also the
original North West corner of said tract of land thence East twenty arpents
or french acres to a stone in the original corner of said land thence south
seventeen arpents or french acres to the land that was sold to John W.
Basye by said Seth Chitwood thence West along the land that was sold to
John W. Basye one hundred and six rods and two thirds to a stake thence
South thirty rods to a stake in the original line of said survey it being
also the south west corner of the land that was sold to John W. Basye thence
West along the original line of the said survey to the beginning containing
three hundred and seventy nine arpents or french acres more or less and
said tract of land is bounded on the south partly by land that was originally
granted by the Spanish authorities to William Burch and on the North by
land that was originally granted by the Spanish authorities to Lydia Quick.
To have and to hold all and every of the said tract of land above described
with the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging
or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Lewis Bissell his heirs and
assigns and to his and their only use benefit and behoof forever and the
said Seth Chitwood doth and will forever warrant and defend from himself
his heirs assigns and every other persons unto him the said Lewis Bissell
his heirs and assigns all his right title interest and claim of in and
to thesaid and above described tract of land forever."

Missouri Territory County of St Louis - Before me the undersigned Richard
Chitwood one of the justices of the peace in and for the County of St.
Louis and Township of St. Ferdinand personally appeared the within named
Seth Chitwood who acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his
act deed handwriting & seal for the purposes therein mentioned. Given under
my hand and seal this seventeenth day of March in the year of Our Lord
One thousand eight-hundred and nineteen.

2 Nov 1819 - "Know all men by these presents that I William Musick and
Mary Musick his wife of the County of St. Louis, Missouri territory have
bargained and sold unto SETH CHITWOOD of the aforesaid County and territory
one lot in the town of Columbia (#248) for the consideration of twelve
dollars to me in hand paid and I William Musick and Mary his wife did bind
ourselves, our heirs and assigns to warrant and defent the title of said
lot to the aforesaid Seth Chitwood and to his heirs and assigns forever.
To have and to hold clear of any incumbrance whatsoever and to his only
use with all the appurtenances thereto belonging forever."

St Louis Co, MO Deed Bk L, p. 387
Mortgage 16 July 1823 - "For and in Consideration that Stephen Glascock
has paid and satisfied an execution for me in favor of John Pruitt for
twenty dollars and twenty four cents and a half cent, I have sold, bargained
and delivered to him all my right, title & interest of and in a certain
tract of land lying in St. Louis county formerly the property of RICHARD
CHITWOOD deceased which I can Claim on account of my wife's part of the
said estate and by these presents I do bargain and sell and deliver unto
the said Stephen Glascocke to his heirs and assigns, all my right, title,
and claim to the said estate of land. In Witness whereof, I hereunto set
my hand and seal the day and date above written. The above described land
is the same whereon, the said deceased, lived and died in St. Louis County
Missouri.

Conditions the above agreement is such that whereas I am justly indebted
to Stephen Glascock in the sum of twenty dollars and twenty four cents

to secure the payment of a just debt, otherwise to be and remain in full
force, Witness our hands and seals this 16th day of July 1823.
