Marvin is pictured in the yearbook of the 43E Class at the Fred Harman Training Center at Bruce Field in Ballinger, Texas. He is a flight cadet. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

Does anyone have a record of the Chitty/Chittie family who lived in Arundel in the second half of the sixteenth century. One of my ancestors, Trifina Chittie, was born there in 1589 snd was the daughter of Jerym and Joan Chittie. Trifina married Nicholas Rickman on 25th April 1617.

Thank you and I will need to review the previous postings. Bobby Don Chitty and I are second cousins and have been in communication via the internet and phone calls for a few years in discussion of our heritage.
I am always grateful to others who have preceded me in the research of my heritage. I completed my first of four heritage books last fall I am writing for our grandchildren. My Chitty / Hataway heritage is the second of the four on which I began researching over ten years ago. I am quite familiar with all of the early Chitty(s) in America and know that my heritage does not descend from Benjamin as does the North Carolina group.
I will read all of the posting and then work them into my conclusions. Again, thank you for your research and willingness to help others as well.

If you surf the web for old post you will find a discussion of Valentine Chitty. It concluded that Valentine had no sons and his daughter married 1st an Ingram 2nd a Gilliam. You will find the Chitty family and Gilliam family in the same area and on the same records. William Chitty and Mary Chitty children of John Chitty of Barnwell Dist both married Gilliams. Celah Chitty daughter of Edward the younger married John Ray, there is an older post that speaks of John Chette and his sister Celah walking behind the wagon all the way to Sc. Again if you search the older post of the gen forums of the side families you will find that a lot of your work has already been done for you. There is a good web site by a John Chitty out of Texas which is a good place to start. My records were lost in a flood years ago, I don't copy anything anymore and most of my Chitty line is documented on the John Chitty site. If Edward the elder was the father of Edward jr then he would have been under th!
e laws of the time been the heir of Edward the elder. Jr, Sen, elder, younger , didn't always indicated kinship at that time in history. If you look at the Surry parish records you will find at the first of the I think 2nd vol 1585? of births. It states that Henry Chitty had somewhere in the mid to upper 200 range ( I cant remember the exact number) of grand kids before his death of I think 57 years. There may have been some kind of relation between Edward the elder and our Chittys , but not enough to leave them anything in his will, he has no sons and dead ends . Charles K out of SC also dose not seem to connect to our Chittys. There was an Adam Chitty in north Alabama around 1790 and later a John Chitty in Jackson Co Al ( I think )that I could never place and might belong to our line or the Benj. Chitty, Moravian line. I have never seen the Ballenger name connected before to Frances wife of John Chette ,do we know where that info came from. Rick

Edward Chitty
- refered to as Junior in a 1745 land patent. First appearace would seem to be as witness to the 1727 will of John Surginor. It is a bit difficult to tell where Edward the Elder's Isle of Wight records end and Edward junior's records begin. This Edward died about 1758 leaving behind 5 minor children: John (who went to SC), Britton, Celia, Elizabeth, and Edward.
I believe that Edward is the ancestor to my Chitty lineage...

I have a lot of questions and uncertain data; that is still very much a work in progress. However, I believe that we are on the same tree in search of our ancestry. I did submit DNA testing done on my Dad's last living sibling. There are not enough Chitty males in the database to be of much use thus far in my research.
I begin with:
Edward CHITTY (1715 - 1758)
Born: Limpsfield, Surrey, England
Death: Southampton, Dominion of Virginia
Son of Thomas Edward CHITTY & Lydia MERCHANT CHITTY Sone
John J CHITTY (1730 - 1805)
Birth: Southampton, Dominion of Virginia
Death: Blackville, Barnwell, South Carolina
Son of Edward CHITTY& Hannah Ruth Chitty (1715- Unknown)
One of four CHITTY eldest sons
Birth: Barnwell, Barnwell, Province of South Carolina
Death: Probably Barnwell, Barnwell, South Carolina
Son of John J CHITTY & Frances Ballenger CHITTY Machen (1756-1826)
James Martin CHITTY (1823 - 1867)
Birth: Barnwell, Barnwell, South Carolina
Death: Panola, Panola, Texas
Son of Unknown CHITTY
George Price CHITTY (1867 - 1927)
Birth: Panola, Texas
Death: Myrtle Spring, Van Zandt, Texas
Son of James Martin CHITTY & Martha Louisa PAGE CHITTY Miles (1838-1871)
Jessie Lee "Jess" CHITTY (1893 - 1961)
Birth: Glenwood, Upshur, Texas
Death: DeRidder, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana
Son of George Price CHITTY & India Rosella "Indy" THURMAN CHITTY (1868-1924)
Jessie Leonard CHITTY (1921 - 1999)
Born: Canton, Van Zandt, Texas
Death: Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches, Texas
Son of Jessie Lee "Jess" CHITTY & Clara Annette HATAWAY CHITTY (1894-1979)
(Leah Chitty Walton)

What is passed down in our family is that two brothers came from England and that one married an Indian Princess. Ben Chitty was transported I think around 1730 and is not connected with the earlier Chittys, unless he was sent back to England. Also our Chitty lines used the same names over and over, and Ben was not one of them. There was also a Valentine Chitty in England around 1680, may be a connection. Valence England is the place to start looking for our Chittys if you want to go from back to forward.
