David,
I've checked my files and can not find a match with the individuals you mentioned, sorry. My "Mary Polly" was probably born several decades before yours, the daughter of John J. Chitty b.1730 d. 1805; John was the son of Edward and my Polly married John Sanderford. Best of luck in your search.

Thank you so much for searching again your files. We have lines from Cargyl Hardy Chitty b. 1831 to current time--That is a lot of Chittys- Greene Co. Ohio (Southwest). Cargyl told his children about his parents( Barton b.1798 d. 1838 and Elizabeth Vick Bryant d. 1838 both of fever) and names of siblings and that's all we have from VA. He did say his grandfather was Dixon. Rest is a mystery to be solved. When parents died so young 40's and Cargyl was only 7yrs.--I guess we should be thankful for who info we have. But we have that curiousty to keep asking. Thanks. Jane

Craig,
All I know is that Her name is "Polly Chitty" based on the marriage record. She married Cordy Simmons in 1827, so she was probably born sometime around 1800-1810. She is listed as "Mary Simmons" on the 1850 census which indicates to me that she was named Mary "Polly" Simmons. The marriage record states that she is the daughter of "Thomas Chitty". Cordy and Polly Simmons had children they named: Lottie, Ann E., and William B. Simmons, and possibly one more named George H. Simmons.
That is pretty much all I have on her.

Jane,
I have check my Chitty files and I can find no point where our two lines join. It could be they are completely seperate lines or that they split prior to any of my info. As I mentioned in my first email, my line migrated to the South and has pretty much stayed there since the early 1800's. My line starts with Thomas Chitty b. 1692 in Southampton County, VA who had two children that I know of, Thomas Jr. and Edward. I trace my line from Edward and have no info at all on Thomas Jr.'s decendants. On Edward's side, I can trace most branches all the way to the current generations.
It is possible that your line decends from Thomas Jr. but then again, maybe not. I just don't have anything on any of the names you listed.

Jane,
I'm sorry but I do not have a Barton Chitty or any of his relatives. I have about 350 Chitty's going back to the mid 1700's but my line sent from VA to various points in the South, NC, SC, GA, AL, TX, FL, MS, LA. All of my line stayed pretty much in those eight states. I imagine that our lines might connect at some earlier point (1600's?) but I have none of the people you mentioned.
Best Wishes,
Craig
