I have new info regarding my line of Chitticks. My Elizabeth Jane Chittick married John WILSON Patterson......not John Johnston Patterson as previously stated. We were told by family that there was some confusion about his middle name. He was called J.W all his life and his gravestone in LeMars, Iowa has J.W Patterson on it. I also have pictures of both Elizabeth and John. But I am still stuck on Elizabeth. If anyone has any new info, please drop me a line. Thank you, Angela Loppe

Angela. I'm the individual Denny Chittick referred to in his response to you. My North American roots are Blanshard Twp.
Perth Co. Ontario and prior to that Fermanagh Northern Ireland. I am trying to connect all the Chitticks who settled in Ontario, (formerly Canada and then Upper Canada, before the 1900's. I have an Elizabeth Chittick on my data base who was born about 1790. In 1871, the only census year where the index is published on the Internet. She was living in the Twp. Verulam in the Co. of Victoria which contains Bobcaygeon. Could she be your GGgrandmother's mother? She's living in a household where the head has a different name so in census verbiage is classed as a stray.
There are 722 Pattersons in this same census which I narrowed down to 93 with the given name "John". No John Johnston however. There are 3 John Pattersons in Verulam at the time. One is of Scotish ancestory and the other two frwere born in Ireland and are ages 60 and 50 years respectively, Neither of which fit with the date of birth of your John, so they may have already left.
I have the details on Elizabeth and Johns and I will get all the particulars on them from the actual census when I visit the Ontario Archives next week. There is a charge for this which is if there is a connection you'll let me have the data on your tree.
