I have been doing a lot of study on the Chittenden family, as a whole, to find my own lineage. Here is what I have found: Robert and Mary (Merriam) married and had William in 1594 in England. He married Joanna Sheaffe in England and moved to Connecticut. Nathaniel Sr was one child born in 1643 and married Sarah Wright. They had Nathaniel Jr in 1669 who married Elizabeth Stevens. BTW, Thomas Chittenden, the first Governor of Vermont, is also a direct descendant of William and Joanna. Next, another Nathaniel III born in 1701 and married Lucy Nettleton. They had Daniel in 1729 who married Grace Waltrous, who then had David(a twin to Jonathan) in 1767 who married ( ) and had Miron in 1797. Miron married Polly Lawrence and had John C. in 1821 who married Sarah Estey and lived in Illinois. There, they had my great grandfather, Warren E. Chittenden in 1854, who married Emma, and had my grandfather, Frederick Clarence Chittenden in 1887 and moved to Nebraska where two more !
Fredericks were born.
