I agree. it appears that Ancestry bundled several genealogies together rather haphazardly, and that they aren't all connected-at least, not the way they have them.
There has been some Chittenden family history submitted for my line on
Ancestry.com by someone with an email address of rrreklaw(a)worldnet.att.net
and the email link is now dead. I believe the submitter's name was Robin. Is
anyone familiar with this individual? I figured a query to the list would be
a shot in the dark, but what the heck.
TIA

I checked some of your other posts. Based on what you have posted, and my own research into the family of Solomon Chittenden, I feel certain that his daughters Polly and Sally are not the ones that you are looking for. Hopefully this will at least get you off of a wild goose chase.
Good luck with finding your own Polly and Sally.

I have Polly and Sally in my family tree. Sally is my ggg-grandmother, daughter of Solomon Chittenden and Susannah Sanford. My gg-grandfather, born DeWitt Clinton Guile, was adopted by Sally's brother Joseph Hart Chittenden. DeWitt married Sally Chittenden Sheldon's daughter, Adelia Pettibone Sheldon. Included in the family of Solomon and Susannah was a daughter Polly.
I have her birth as in Orwell, Addison County, Vermont on Feb 7, 1890. I have her husband as Elias Dudley Wilcox, based upon an entry in the Orwell town land records 15:529 Discharge of Legates of Joseph H. Chittenden.
If this seems to match up with your info, I would be happy to share more with you. My file is online at Rootsweb, and may show up in some of the places you have searched. The direct link to Polly is http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=neil53hall&id=...
The Feb 7, 1790 birthdate comes from a genealogy of the family published in the book, Early History of Hopkinton, by Carlton Sanford, published in 1903.
I've "rescued" an old photograph identified with the name Mrs. C. F.
CHITTENDEN of New London, Connecticut written on the back of the photograph.
The photograph was taken at the Perkinson Studio in New York City, probably
sometime in the 1870's or 1880's with the young woman in the photograph
likely in her teens at the time. I am not sure if it is a photograph of
Mrs. CHITTENDEN or if it was given to Mrs. CHITTENDEN by a family member.
Based on limited research I was able to locate information regarding the
CHITTENDEN family in CT with census records providing the following
information:
1880 census of Waterford, CT
Fredrick J. CHITTENDEN, age 57, a Carpenter, born CT, parents born CT
Luzy M. CHITTENDEN, wife, age 47, Keeping House, born CT, parents born CT
Fredrick W. CHITTENDEN, son, age 22, Clerk in Store, born CT
Charles F. CHITTENDEN, son, age 20, Clerk in Store, born CT
1900 census of New London, CT
Charles F. CHITTENDEN, age 40, born Feb 1860, married 8 years, born CT,
parents born CT, a Salesman
Hannah B. CHITTENDEN, wife, age 26, born Apr 1874, married 8 years, no
children, born CT, parents born CT
Lucie N. CHITTENDEN, mother, age 67, a widow, born May 1833, 4 children/2
living, born CT, parents born CT
1910 census of New London, CT
Charles F. CHITTENDEN, age 50, 3rd marriage 17 years, born CT, parents born
CT, a Dry Goods Salesman
Hannah B. CHITTENDEN, wife, age 36, 1st marriage 17 years, no children, born
CT, parents born England/Switzerland
Lucy M. CHITTENDEN, mother, age 77, a widow, 4 children/3 living, born CT,
parents born CT
1920 census of New London, CT
Charley F. CHITTENDEN, age 59, born CT, parents born CT, an Antique Dealer
Hannah B. CHITTENDEN, wife, age 45, born CT, parents born
England/Switzerland
1930 census of New London, CT
Charles F. CHITTENDEN, age 70, born CT, parents born CT, a Furniture
Upholsterer
Hannah CHITTENDEN, wife, age 56, born CT, parents born England/Switzerland
I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to the care of family. If
you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please
contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
I'd like help with
Ann CHITTENDEN married Henry WOOD iin 1740 in Woodchurch, Kent,
England, both from Woodchurch. They raised their family, from whom I am descended,
in Woodchurch. Their descendants later moved to Great Chart, Kent, eventually
moving to the US in New York and Michigan.
Henry's brother, William WOOD married Sarah CHITTENDEN (presumably sister of
Ann) in Woodchurch also in 1740. William and Sarah may have moved to High
Halden or Headcorn, Kent.

hi, Ed,
you may have seen a new post by me. someone at Ancestry's trying to state that Polly and Sally are the daughters of Solomon and Susannah Sanford Chittenden. bent my brain a little on that one tonight.
can't seem to get a toe-hold on data that will lead me to their records so I can be certain who their parents really are.
any new data on them? I don't trust what I found tonight...

I went into Ancestry tonight in hopes of possibly finding Polly and Sally Chittenden, and all I got was confused and head-achey. can someone please tell me who these girls parents were and untangle the mess at Ancestry.
Polly Chittenden...I am told she was b. 7 Feb 1790. no place given, no parents names.
Ancestry's Family data collection states she was b. in Connecticut, daughter of Solomon Chittenden and Susannah Sanford.
Ancestry's OneWorldTree, which is worse than untrustworthy, claims that Sally was b. 9 Oct 1782, also the daughter of Solomon and Susannah. great, just what I'm looking for, two sisters...except Rootsweb's WorldConnect staits that Solomon's daughter Sally was b. 1805. I'd trust WorldConnect long before I'd trust OneWorldTree, and I take WorldConnect with a healthy dose of salt...including my own tree, though I try hard to keep errors out of it.
please, would someone tell me who Polly and Sally Chittenden's parents are? I can't swear they are sisters but believe them to be. Polly's youngest was with Sally's family in 1850, I assume because life at home wasn't as healthy as it should be? by 1858 most of Polly's family had succumbed to Tuberculosis.
Polly is my great, great, great grandmother, and I'd dearly love to know her and Sally's ancestry.
