Hi to the List,
Just wondreing if any one out there has a Martha CHITTENDEN born 1790 in
Warehorne ,Kent to William CHITTENDEN and Elizabeth nee MEAD
They did have a big family and I do believe that William married 2
Elizabeths
My GGGrandmother Martha married Thomas Noakes FLOAT in 1810 in Warehorne
but where Thomas comes from we are not sure.
They came to South Australia in 1839 and I am the 3rd generation from them.
Would love to know more on the CHITTENDEN's
Have a nice day

I am new to this list and I just browsed the archived messages back to 1999 and I was surprised at the lack of posts. I hope there is more interest coming through now.
I have researched my Fowler line for many years and noticed that quite often the Chittenden surname showed up close by. Decided to investigate and found the Fowler-Chittenden connection with lots of information submitted by John Wayland as " FOWLER-CHITTENDEN & OTHER CT LINES"
I found some good clues in this information that probably leads back to my Fowler line through Rossiter and Chittenden marriages.
However, when I e-mailed John Wayland, my mail came back immediately as "non deliverable"
My best clues are ...........
Benjamin Rossiter, bn 1738, md Sarah Morse, bn 1728. They had a child, Lois Rossiter, bn 1759.
William Rossiter, bn 1740, md. Submit Chittenden, bn 1744, (before 1770) I interpret the data as Benjamin and William were brothers.
Ebenezer Fowler 111, bn 1747, md. Lois Rossiter, bn 1759, and they produced ....
Benjamin Rossiter Fowler, bn 1779.
Benjamin Rossiter Fowler, bn 1779, married 2nd in 1805 a Rachel Fowler (not sure if that was her maiden name or a married name), but from that marriage was born George Rossiter Fowler, bn 1807.
George Rossiter Fowler, bn 1807, married a
(Unknown given name) Gates, bn abt 1810, and I believe this George and Miss Gates are my GGGrandparents. (Not proven yet)
All of the above (except Miss Gates) were living in North Guilford, CN. However, George Rossiter Fowler and his wife, Miss Gates Fowler, went to Middlefield, Ohio to live.
I would like to contact John Wayland or anyone knowing of this Chittenden-Fowler connection. His website is still up.
Sincerely,
Darline Fowler Smith
